St James takes on London!! 🇬🇧

Today, as a grand finale of our brilliant ‘Power to the People’ week, some of our young helpers have visited the capital!

We had a tour of the Houses of Parliament, followed by a bus to explore the city. It’s been the BEST!!⭐️

Thank you to Alison McGovern ‘s staff for being so hospitable and giving us all the facts, and thankyou to our incredible young people who did us so proud. 🫶

Summer Week 3: ✅

What a week!! ‘Power to the People’ was SUCH a success! Our young people have met the Mayor, toured the town hall and put on an incredible event (see our previous post).

On top of that, we’ve baked, crafted and had our second ‘Grow, Learn and Play’ session at Eureka Science + Discovery! It’s been busy busy! 🔭🧬👩🏾‍🎨

It happened! They did it ! 👏📣

Today, our young helpers have hosted the very first North Birkenhead Community Assembly. They got people aged 8-85 in one room, to have one conversation.

This was done completely on their terms, and reflected issues that the young people think adults should care about, instead of the other way round. They made a film, sold from stalls, collected information, made the food and decorations and performed speeches. It was incredible!! 💪

This is part of a nationwide movement from the Humanity Project and we honestly could not be prouder. A huge thankyou to everyone that came!!

These guys reflect the North End and its future, and it’s most definitely in safe hands💛.

On Monday, we take on Parliament! 🇬🇧

Its ’Power to the People’ week!

This week is all about local politics, making some noise and letting everyone know what the North End is about! Our young helpers are gearing up for Thursday’s event, which we’d LOVE to see you all at, and there’s loads to do in the meantime to get ready! 🫵✍️✨

Both trips are full, but come down and see us anyway because the cafe is doing ‘families eat free’ and the library is open for free-play 10-3! 🍰

We’ve had another FAB week here at the SJC.

We’ve been to West Kirby, we’ve crafted, our big kids went to sunny Liverpool for watersports and we’ve all learnt to crochet thanks to lovely Ella! 🌊🏊⭐️🧸

Next week, it’s ‘Power to the People’ week so there’s LOADS going on. If you’d like to come to the town hall to meet the Mayor on Monday (everyone welcome!) pop us a comment or give the centre a call to be added to the list! 🏛️💪

'WE'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY' 📣

Over the last few months, our incredible young people have been working hard devising and creating their own 'Citizen's Assembly' in collaboration with the .uk ! They've been interviewing, filming, talking to people who can make a difference and deciding exactly what they want to see change in the area!💛

Next Thursday, all of their work is coming together at a free event here a the centre. There will be food, speeches by the young people, videos and discussion - all about the North End, all designed by our young people, all about change to the area for the better!

Please come down and support them and show everyone our true North End spirit - it's going to be fab!🌟💪
