Arnold has finally got his assistant to put a hot water bottle in my hut. I was beginning to wonder how low temperatures had to drop before someone bothered - I'm a cat after all, not a polar bear. Come to think of it, I've never met anyone who is a polar bear. They probably stay mostly indoors, that would explain it.

Arnold has taken up a new sport - Cheese Football Mat Wrestling. The World Series of it has just taken place in the kitchen and Arnold has been declared world champion.

The Cat in Ancient Egypt


Cats are so common in our society that sometimes we take their presence for granted. But, did you know that in Ancient Egypt, cats were so revered that harming a cat was punishable by death?

One legend tells of an instance when a Persian king attacked the Egyptian city of Pelusium—he was well aware of how the Egyptians adored their feline friends. So, he ordered his soldiers to search the city and take any cat that they found. During the next attack, the soldiers each held up one of the live cats as they approached the Egyptian borders. The Egyptians were so concerned about the well-being of their cats that they surrendered their city to Persia!

Our local fox, Wensleydale, has requested that anyone with a bit of spare turkey over the Christmas period should send it his way. He says while he isn't ungrateful for the Go-Cat currently provided, he'd prefer something more fox-related for a change.

The squirrel hunting season's well underway now, so the domestics are getting some excercise for a change. They don't catch as many as me of course, but at least they're trying.

Enough already. Its the same every year, no need for it. Its all very well if you're human and therefore practically deaf in cat terms, but some of us have senses.

Its dark longer now. This is good news for a cat, more time for business transactions. It doesn't work for domestics though, indoors it stays light even after it gets dark, caused by elastic trickery.
