🏠 Keep homes cool by closing curtains or blinds
🌊 Stay safe around water
👵 Check in on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable

🌡️ RED HEAT HEALTH ALERT EXTENDED 🌡️

The Red Heat Health Alert for the West Midlands has been extended and will now remain in place until 11pm on Friday 26 June.

Please take extra care in the heat and check on family, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable.

Know the signs:

⚠️ Heat exhaustion can cause:
• Dizziness
• Feeling unwell
• Excessive thirst
• Muscle cramps

🚨 If symptoms don’t improve after 30 minutes, this could become heatstroke (a medical emergency).

Look out for:
• A high temperature
• Confusion
• No sweating despite being hot
• Fast or heavy breathing

📞 Call NHS 111 if you're still unwell.
🚑 Call 999 in an emergency.

🌡️ AMBER AND RED EXTREME WEATHER ALERTS 🌡️

An amber extreme heat alert is in place across the West Midlands from 11am on 22/06/2026 until 11.59pm on 23/06/2026. This will be followed by a red extreme weather alert in the region from 9am on 24/06/2026 to 9pm on 25/06/2026.

Extreme heat can affect everyone, not just those who are vulnerable to hot weather, so please take extra care to stay safe and cool.

✅ Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water
✅ Keep out of the sun and avoid any exercise between 11am–3pm
✅ Check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbours
✅ If you need to go out, stay in the shade, wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat, and take water with you
✅ Keep curtains/blinds closed in rooms facing the sun

If you or someone else feels unwell due to the heat, seek medical advice.
