An exciting and educational half term for our B Company Cadets!

The cadets recently took part in two fantastic career insight events. First, they met with the Royal Logistic Corps to learn about the diverse roles available in both the Regular Armed Forces and the Reserves, alongside a hands on look at their vehicles and equipment.

They also attended a dedicated STEM day at the Stellantis Performance Academy. Skilled industry professionals introduced the cadets to early career opportunities and explained how the automotive world is adapting to new technologies. The day featured interactive hands on activities including, a practical breakdown of how combustion engines and electric vehicles work, immersive training sessions with VR headsets and time on the academy driving simulators.

On 22nd April, representatives from Warwickshire & West Midlands (South Sector) Army Cadet Force were privileged to attend the annual Lord-Lieutenant Awards Evening in Warwick, hosted by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Warwickshire, Tim Cox.

The evening brought together individuals and organisations from across the county to recognise exceptional service, dedication and contributions to communities throughout Warwickshire. Events such as these provide an important opportunity to celebrate the volunteers, leaders and role models who give so much of themselves in service to others.

The evening was expertly compered by Maj Alex Potter, OC B Coy, whose professionalism, warmth and humour helped create a fitting atmosphere to celebrate achievement, service and community spirit.

A particularly significant part of the evening was the recognition of the outgoing Lord-Lieutenant Cadets. Throughout their appointments, they have represented their organisations with distinction, supported civic and ceremonial events, and acted as outstanding ambassadors for young people across Warwickshire. Their commitment, professionalism and dedication should make them immensely proud. On behalf of WWMACF, we extend our sincere congratulations and thanks for everything they have achieved during their tenure.

The evening also marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter, as the incoming Lord-Lieutenant Cadets were formally welcomed into their appointments. These young people have earned a tremendous opportunity and responsibility, and we look forward to seeing them develop further and represent their organisations with pride over the coming year. We wish them every success as they begin this journey.

The Lord-Lieutenant Awards recognise those who quietly make an extraordinary difference behind the scenes. Across Warwickshire, countless individuals dedicate their time to supporting young people, charities, community organisations and local initiatives, often without seeking recognition. Evenings such as this serve as a powerful reminder of the immense impact that committed volunteers have within our communities.

As an organisation built on service, leadership and the development of young people, WWMACF is proud to support and celebrate those who embody these values. We extend our congratulations to all award recipients and nominees recognised during the evening.

Huge congratulations to Normandy Company on winning the Junior Drill Competition this weekend!

An outstanding performance from all cadets involved, showing exceptional teamwork, discipline, and determination throughout the competition.

A special mention also goes to Cadet Catalan, who was awarded Best Drill Commander for their superb leadership, confidence, and precision on the drill square. An excellent achievement and thoroughly deserved! 👏

Well done to all of the cadets who took part and represented the company with pride.

An outstanding achievement that reflects the team’s dedication, discipline, and hard work throughout the competition.

A special congratulations also goes to RSM Bennell-Low on winning Best Drill Commander. A fantastic individual achievement and thoroughly deserved recognition for exceptional leadership and professionalism.

Well done to all of the cadets who took part in the competition, you are credits to your companies.

To all our cadets across Warwickshire and West Midlands (South Sector) Army Cadet Force who are sitting exams over the coming weeks — we want to wish you the very best of luck.

We know how much hard work, revision and determination goes into this period, and we are incredibly proud of the effort you are putting in. Give it your best, stay focused, and remember to look after yourselves along the way.
But also remember this:
Exams measure some things — they do not measure everything.

They do not measure your courage on exercise. They do not measure your resilience when things are difficult. They do not measure your leadership, your teamwork, your kindness or your character. They do not measure the confidence you have built, the challenges you have overcome, or the many skills and talents you bring to your detachments and communities every single week.

Results matter, and we want every cadet to succeed — but no grade will ever fully define who you are.

The County is pleased to announce that Colonel Angela Notice has been appointed as the new County Commandant for Warwickshire and West Midlands (SS) ACF.

Colonel Notice’s journey is a powerful example of what a determined, resourceful and dedicated individual can achieve in the Cadet Forces. Beginning as one of the first female cadets in the organisation, she soon progressed to become an Adult Volunteer shortly after ageing out, and has since served with distinction across a wide range of roles.

Her experience spans that of Sgt Instructor, Detachment Commander, Company Training Officer, Company Commander, County Training Officer, and most recently Deputy Commandant.

As Deputy Commandant, Colonel Notice has had a significant and measurable impact across the County. She has driven improvements in training delivery, strengthened standards, and ensured greater consistency across companies. Her leadership has supported the development of adult volunteers, enhanced opportunities for cadets, and reinforced a culture of professionalism, accountability, and care. Her ability to balance high expectations with genuine support for others has been instrumental in maintaining momentum and cohesion across the County.

Throughout her service, Colonel Notice has consistently demonstrated genuine, mission-focused and servant leadership. She is known for her unwavering commitment to her people, high standards, and her ability to inspire confidence at all levels.

On her appointment, Colonel Notice said:
“I’m proud to become the Commandant of Warwickshire and West Midlands. From cadet to Commandant, I’m proud of my achievement.”

Given her track record, we are confident that Colonel Notice will lead the County from strength to strength, building on firm foundations and continuing to deliver outstanding outcomes for both cadets and adult volunteers.

We look forward to the next chapter under her leadership.
