West Midlands Metro is stepping up enforcement of Buy Before You Board.

Since conductors were withdrawn on 13 September, our Revenue Officers have been out on the network offering support and advice while checking tickets and passes. Now it's time for full enforcement.

If you're travelling without a valid ticket or pass, you'll face a £100 Penalty Fare. You can't buy a ticket from a Revenue Officer on the tram, so make sure you've bought before you board, using a ticket machine, the MyMetro app, or your Swift card.

Meet Holly & Sean, who swapped traditional wedding cars for the tram they travel on every week — taking their family and friends from Edgbaston Village to Town Hall.

For some guests, it was their first-ever tram journey… and by the end, Metro had a few new fans! ❤️

🚊 West Midlands Metro has introduced a Buy Before You Board system.
🛑 This means customers must have a valid ticket or travel pass before boarding the tram.

There are several ways to purchase a ticket before travelling, including:
• Ticket machines at all Metro stops
• MyMetro app
• Swift smartcards, including Swift Go
• Direct Debit season tickets

We would like to hear about your experience of Buy Before You Board and the information available to support customers. Your feedback will help us understand what is working well and identify any improvements we can make to our communications, information and ticket-purchasing options.

🚊 Buy Before You Board is now live across West Midlands Metro.

You'll need a valid ticket or pass before boarding, as tickets are no longer available to buy on board.

Our Revenue Officers, mostly former conductors, are now out across the network checking tickets and issuing Penalty Fares where required.

More ticket machines are now at stops, and you can also buy through the MyMetro app, so avoid a penalty. Buy Before You Board.

🚊 A new chapter for West Midlands Metro!

This Sunday, 13 September, marks an important milestone as Buy Before You Board (BBYB) launches across the West Midlands Metro network.

Customers must have a valid ticket or pass before boarding a tram. Tickets will no longer be available to purchase on board.

Our Revenue Officers, mostly former conductors, will be out across the network carrying out ticket checks and issuing £100 Penalty Fares where required.

From Sunday 13 September, West Midlands Metro will be moving to a Buy Before You Board system.

This means customers must buy their ticket or have a valid pass before boarding the tram.
