This week, our Thursday Thank You goes to the wonderful Maria, who is celebrating 13 years of volunteering with SIFA Fireside!! 🎉

Maria can usually be found whipping up tasty breakfasts, lunches and treats in the kitchen at our Digbeth Support Centre, for our clients experiencing homelessness.

Maria's generosity and kindness has touched so many people across the years, and we couldn't be more grateful to her for gifting us her time and culinary skills 🧡

Thank you, Maria 🔥

Want to know how we marked World Homeless Day this year?
We spent the evening 🔥Firewalking🔥 along with some of our daring supporters!

The SIFA Firewalk was a new and exciting challenge, helping us to raise vital funds to support adults facing homelessness in Birmingham 🧡

There is still time to support us by sponsoring one of our impressive firewalkers here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/donna-holt-1?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

And that's a wrap for the SIFA Firewalk 2026! 🔥

An incredible group of humans faced the fire on Saturday night, raising money to help us support people facing homelessness in Birmingham.

Participants walked over red-hot coals that were approximately 600 degrees Celsius 🥵, an epic feat which left everyone buzzing from the adrenaline!

A huge thank you to every single person that took part and to their supporters that came along to watch 🧡

We'd also like to thank Shirley Golf Club for generously allowing us use of their grounds for free, and to the fantastic team at UK Firewalk for facilitating such a brilliant event and taking these incredible photos!

There's still time to donate and help us reach our fundraising target by sponsoring our firewalkers here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/bibiane-manga-1

We want to give a massive shout out to every single one of you that shared or donated to our recent urgent appeal for toiletries 🧡

The response we've received has been brilliant and gone a long way in helping us to replenish our stocks!

This work wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our supporters, and that is not something that we take lightly here at SIFA 🔥

If you asked us to be honest about what it takes to end homelessness in the UK, this is what we would say...

➡️ We need more social & affordable housing
➡️ We must address the systemic causes of poverty
➡️ Mental health support must be timely, easily accessible and meet people's needs
➡️ We need a holistic and multi-agency approach for supporting people at risk of homelessness

We know that these changes are only possible with the right investment and an unwavering commitment from the government, as well as cross-sector agencies and organisations, to end homelessness.
