The results of the local elections on May 7th werenโt the outcome we hoped for, and naturally weโre disappointed to have lost our Green representation on St Helens Council.
But the hard work, passion and dedication shown by our members, candidates, councillors and supporters has not been wasted.
We want to give our heartfelt thanks to our previous Green councillors for the work they have done for their communities, especially David van der Burg and Paul Hooton in Haydock & Allen Makin in Bold & Lea Green, whose fantastic efforts have made a real difference. Their commitment, care and dedication have shown exactly what Green representation can look like at its best.
Over the course of this campaign, weโve knocked on doors in all weather, listened to residents, raised issues that matter, challenged division, and changed minds along the way. Every conversation mattered. Every leaflet delivered mattered. Every vote for Green mattered.
To those elected, we genuinely hope you take your positions seriously and understand the gravitas of the four-year commitment you have signed up to. Local people deserve councillors who listen, engage and work tirelessly for their communities.
St Helens Green Party is not going anywhere. We will continue to fight for people and planet, stand up against oppression and inequality, and choose hope over hate every single time.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, voted for us, campaigned with us, or simply believed that politics can be kinder, fairer and more compassionate.
