The foundation hopes to bring together various cultures and heritages among the communities here in UK and globally. It
also aims to foster goodwill and harmony between communities living in the UK through organising various festivals, awards and other activities. DESH foundation also aims to promote, celebrate and recognise the achievements of the community, business and individuals. As we will be celebrating our success here in the UK we will also remain mindful of our roots. We aim to pass and share our skills with the people of our country of origin, through education and other skills based development programmes. Our sister concerns previously were BBL, Midlands Curry Awards 2009 and UK-Bangla Trade Council, who organised many successful events and promoted Bangladeshi community businesses. In 2007 we organized a very successful, first ever “Community & Business Award,” which was attended by many distinguished guests from UK, was held in the West Midlands. In 2009 we organised our most successful event “The Midlands Curry Awards,” which was held in Birmingham and attended by celebrities and dignitaries. We also organised a seminar in House of Commons for Bangladeshi Businesses and other professionals to promote bilateral trade between the UK and Bangladesh, attended by the MP’s and High Commissioners. Most recently we have organised the “First Ever UK-Bangladesh E-Commerce Fair 2013,” at Gloucester Millennium Hotel in London, in conjunction with Ministry of Information & Technology (ICT) Bangladesh. This was supported by Bangladesh High Commission UK, where guests included Foreign Minister and Information Minister of Bangladesh, Ministers and MP’s from UK. The fair was very successful where 50 different companies from UK and Bangladesh participated. After the success of our previous programs, DESH Foundation successfully organised first ever “British-Bangladeshi Business Awards on March 11,2015.” (BBBAwards 2015) at New Bingley Hall Birmingham with UK Prime minister David Cameroon as the chief guest along with other prominent British and Bangladeshi Politicians and Business leaders. The aim of the award is to celebrate the excellence and outstanding achievements of Bangladeshi businesses operating in the UK. British Bangladeshis have a remarkable contribution to the British economy and this is the time to recognize their achievements
