Museum of the Jewellery Quarter A perfectly preserved jewellery workshop offering a unique glimpse of working life in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter

For more than 80 years, Smith & Pepper produced jewellery from this workshop. Explore this extraordinary industrial time capsule on a lively guided tour. Here you will find things left as they were on Smith & Pepper's last working day. Gather round the main jeweller's bench to watch a demonstration of the traditional skills of this fine trade and discover what it was like to work here. The Museum

also has an interactive gallery exploring the 'Story of the Jewellery Quarter'. Find out why the close-knit trade became established over 200 years ago and how Birmingham got its own Assay Office. Glittering displays reveal a broad array of locally made fine and intricate products. The 'Earth's Riches' gallery showcases jewellery made from material found in the natural world, from whale tooth and coral to diamond and platinum.

Due to heavy snowfall following Storm Goretti, icy conditions, and a yellow weather warning in place, The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter will be closed this Saturday 10 January. This decision has been made in the interest of public and staff safety, and anyone with tickets to The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter during this time will be contacted in due course.

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter will return to its normal opening hours from Thursday 15 January. Thank you for your understanding, and apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Due to Met Office Amber warnings, we will be closing Museum of the Jewellery Quarter from 2pm on Thursday 8 January, and all day Friday 9 January, in order to ensure the safety of our staff and the public. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Merry Christmas from the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter!

We are open on Saturday 27th December for guided tours of the Smith & Pepper workshop! Book your tickets here or drop in between 10.30am and 4pm. Our last tour of the day is 3.15pm.

Pre booking recommended as places per tour are limited.
