Mountsorrel Castle Hill War Memorial Centenary Commemoration

Mountsorrel Parish Council, together with the Mountsorrel Branch of the Royal British Legion, warmly invites residents and guests to join us for a special remembrance and commemoration ceremony marking the100th Anniversary of the Castle Hill War Memorial.
Erected in 1926 to honour the local men who gave their lives during the First World War, and later updated to include those who fell in the Second World War, the Castle Hill War Memorial remains at the heart of Mountsorrel’s history, remembrance and community.
Programme of Events
11.00am – Remembrance Service on Castle Hill�All Mountsorrel residents are warmly invited to attend.
For those who would prefer not to make the climb to Castle Hill, the full service will be shown live on screen in the main hall at the Mountsorrel Memorial Centre (MMC).
12.00 noon – Refreshments and Music�Following the service, refreshments will be served at the MMC, with music provided by the Leicestershire Co-op Band.
12.45pm – Reading of the Roll of Honour
1.15pm – Musical Performance�A further performance by the Leicestershire Co-op Band will conclude the public part of the day’s events.

2.15pm – Commemorative Concert
4.00pm – Close of Event

If you have received an invitation to the buffet lunch and concert but have not yet confirmed your attendance, we would be grateful if you could do so by contacting the Parish Council as soon as possible. They need to finalise catering numbers, and your prompt response would be greatly appreciated.
