Exciting news!

Money from the government’s new play areas fund is coming to Sandwell - and I’ll be pushing for a big chunk to come to Jubilee Park playground in Tipton, which is already slated for upgrading by Sandwell Council as part of the £1 million on play areas they allocated in their budget for 2026-27.

Anyone who has kids knows how important playareas are - I’m incredibly pleased that this money is coming to our area

I had the great pleasure in helping Chris on Saturday deliver leaflets in Batchley, Redditch. He is campaigning for a new public police counter to be set up in the new police station in Redditch. I’ll be doing the same this weekend.

Great day in Batchley doing constituent home visits, talking to residents about why there is no Police counter or custody cells at the new Police station and checking out some ridiculous pot holes. Thanks to everyone who came out for a chat - lots to crack on with!

Public libraries are vital community spaces - supporting reading, learning and opportunity for all.

In Parliament I joined UNISON and library workers to discuss the pressures facing local services.

While Worcestershire has maintained its library network and increased opening hours, staff numbers have fallen by 55% - showing the impact of years of underfunding.

Councils need proper resources to protect libraries and deliver for our communities in Redditch and the Villages.

On Wednesday morning, Ofgem announced that it is reducing the energy price cap by £117, bringing the typical annual bill for a dual-fuel household down to £1,641.

This reduction will be welcome news for families who have been struggling with high energy bills. Any cut offers some breathing space. However, costs remain far higher than many households are used to, and for many people the pressure on monthly budgets has not gone away.

In Redditch, I know that residents are still feeling the impact of sustained high prices. At the same time, local businesses — from independent shops to manufacturers — continue to face significant energy costs, which affect investment, confidence and jobs.

So while this announcement is a step in the right direction, there is much more to do. We need sustained action to bring down residential bills further, provide certainty for businesses, and ensure our energy system delivers secure, reliable and genuinely affordable power for the long term.
