Coming up soon on Highbury Orchard.

Come and join us in the woods this autumn

Starting Wednesday 9th September, 10.30am-12pm, our new half term of woodland play invites children and families to slow down, explore the changing season, and enjoy time together outdoors.

We'll be noticing the signs of autumn, preparing for Apple Day, and stepping into the magic of dragons through natural crafts, games, gardening, collecting, and big, joyful movement with wheelbarrows and garden tools.

These sessions are designed to help children build confidence, connect with others, and feel at home in nature. While sessions are drop-in, we warmly encourage families to come along regularly so friendships and familiarity can grow over the half term.

Sessions are donation-based, with a guide price of £7 per child or £12 per family (2-4 children), and we often end by sharing a healthy vegan snack and drink.

You can find full details on our website and Eventbrite page - and do check directions before setting out, as we're a little tucked away.

We're absolutely delighted to see Highbury Park receive this well deserved recognition. 💚

Being part of the partnership helping to care for, celebrate and reconnect people with this extraordinary landscape is something we're incredibly proud of. Every volunteer session, family activity, school visit, heritage project and conservation effort has helped demonstrate that a busy urban park can also be a thriving home for wildlife.

This achievement belongs to everyone who has rolled up their sleeves, shared their expertise or simply chosen to care about Highbury. Thank you for being part of the journey. We can't wait to see what we achieve together next! 🌿'

Highbury Park has been recognised as especially important for its nature. This historic landscape of meadows, woodlands, hedgerows, pools and formal gardens has been designated by Birmingham City Council as as a Site of Regional and Local importance for Nature Conservation (SINC/SLINC). This is quite an accolade for a heavily used public park. Thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this.

Some great family activities coming up in Highbury Orchard over the summer! 🌊 🐙🧜‍♀️

Lots of our familes asked for a summer session, so here we go!

Join Lauren and Rhiannon as we stoke our love for the sea and head into the wildness of our imagination and nature!

Join us for a magical Summer Special Woodland Play where we head on an underwater adventure using imagination, nature and creative play.

Children aged 3–9 will explore “the ocean” through sensory activities, storytelling and wild discovery in the orchard. We’ll use natural materials to build our underwater world, search for hidden sea treasures, and dive into imaginative challenges. Dressing up as sea creatures, divers or ocean explorers is warmly encouraged. Snacks are included, and the session is designed to be gentle, playful and full of wonder.
11.30am–1pm at Highbury Orchard • £7 per child / £12 per family

☀️ Enjoy the sunshine safely at Highbury Park 🌿

It's lovely to see so many people making the most of the park in the warm weather.

We'd like to share a friendly reminder from Birmingham City Council to help keep this special green space safe for everyone.

🔥 During hot, dry weather, even a small spark can quickly become a fire risk. Please remember that BBQs are not permitted in Birmingham's parks, and if you're enjoying a picnic, taking your litter home helps protect wildlife and reduces the risk of accidental fires.

Thank you for helping to keep Highbury Park a safe, beautiful and welcoming place for everyone to enjoy. 💚

Please see Birmingham City Council's guidance below.
