Calling all book lovers, budding writers and creative minds 📚✨

WordFest: Turn the Page is coming to Bishop Auckland from 7 to 20 September, bringing two weeks of stories and creativity to The Artist Hub.

Hosted by Dispel - Art, the festival will feature creative workshops, community events and showcases from local authors and illustrators.

Bishop Auckland Town Council is pleased to be funding WordFest and supporting another exciting cultural event in the heart of our town.

Calling all young princes and princesses 👑✨

The Enchanted Princess Singalong is coming to Bishop Auckland Town Hall this Friday, with singing, royalty training, interactive party fun and the chance to design your own crown.

📅 Friday 28 August
⏰ 10am or 2pm
🎟️ Just £1 per participant

Tickets are for under 16s, and only children taking part need a ticket. All children and young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the workshop.

🧱 Important Brick Fairytale Trail update

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the installation at The Brow Lounge is no longer accessible. It has now been moved to Bishop Auckland Town Council, where you can continue the trail and find the next clue.

We have updated the trail card and included the new version below.

Please be aware that printed trail cards available from Bishop Auckland Town Hall and The Artist Hub will still have the original map attached. Simply visit Bishop Auckland Town Council instead of Brow Lounge.

What an amazing response to our Brick Fairytale Trail so far! 🧱✨

It’s been brilliant to see so many families exploring the town, trail cards in hand, searching for the hidden brick-built characters and solving the clues along the way.

There’s still plenty of time to join the adventure, support our town centre businesses and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes!

The fairytale fun doesn’t end there! We’re also bringing a special Enchanted Princess Singalong to Bishop Auckland Town Hall, filled with singing, royalty training, interactive party fun and the chance to design your own crown.

🧚 A little update from the Enchanted Bishop Auckland Trail…

It seems our magical characters ran out of fairy dust on their journey from Durham, but luckily, they’ve found some more and are now on their way! ✨

Installation will begin as soon as they arrive, but the full trail is not expected to be ready until later this afternoon.

Please also remember that some displays are located inside local businesses, which all have different opening hours. This means that not every character will be visible when the shops are closed.
