Bishop Auckland Town Council is asking residents and local organisations to share their views on its draft strategies for 2026–2031.

These plans will help shape the Council’s priorities and guide future projects and services across the town.

Whether you’re interested in the environment, community events, allotments, communication or the future development of local services, your feedback is important.

This consultation is an opportunity for everyone in Bishop Auckland to have their say before the final strategies are adopted.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms affecting the North East from midnight tonight, Thursday 25 June, to 10am tomorrow, Friday 26 June. Many areas will miss the worst, but thunderstorms could bring disruption in places during Thursday night and into Friday morning.

🏆 Tonight we celebrate our young people! 🏆

Bishop Auckland Town Council is proud to host the Youth Awards 2026 this evening, recognising the outstanding achievements of young people across our town.

From inspiring acts of kindness and community spirit, to sporting success, creativity, leadership and incredible personal resilience, this year’s nominees have shown just how much talent and determination exists within our young community.

We would like to wish all nominees the very best and thank our sponsors and supporters for helping us make this celebration possible.

Bishop Auckland is starting to look blooming lovely!

This week we have had two unloved areas start to transform as part of our Greener Together partnership working.

The Railway Garden Bishop Auckland Railway Station has seen a further transformation this week with raised beds, and stone circle to commemorate 200 Years of the Darlington and Stockton Railway is now in place. Students from Aspire at Bishop Auckland College have spent two days filing the raised beds.

Bishop Auckland Etc King’s Trust Team have spent two weeks onsite on Kingsway, making improvements to an unloved grassed area!

Huge thanks to our volunteers, Cultivate4Life , Bishop Auckland Etc King’s Trust Team, Students from Bishop Auckland College and support from The Auckland Project

This week has also seen the flower beds on Bob Hardisty Drive be planted, and next week the summer tubs will be put out - so look out for them coming too!

📢 Have Your Say on Bishop Auckland’s Future

Bishop Auckland Town Council is inviting residents, businesses, community groups and stakeholders to take part in a consultation on its draft strategies for 2026–2031.

Last week, we joined residents, families and visitors at Bishop Auckland - Pride to hear your thoughts and ideas about the future of our town. We also welcomed children to take part in a creative activity and share their ideas. 🍪

The draft strategies set out the Council’s vision, priorities and objectives for the next five years, helping to guide future investment, projects and service delivery across Bishop Auckland.

The strategies focus on:

🌳 Allotments & Environment – improving allotment standards, reducing waiting times and supporting biodiversity and greener spaces.

🎭 Community & Events – delivering inclusive events, activities and opportunities for local people.

🏛 Council Priorities & Future Planning – improving communication, strengthening community engagement and developing partnerships to support future services.

This consultation provides an opportunity for local people to review the proposals and share their views before the final strategies are adopted.
