Just a quick reminder that Saturday 31st January is Councillor Surgeries. The Severn Vale area I represent at Gloucestershire County Council is huge (everything inside the area marked 52) so I hold 3 surgeries.

🌱🔋 Spotlight on Local Innovation: Pure Drive Energy vs Global Giants

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to meet Pure Drive Energy, a brilliant home‑grown company based right here in Toddington — and I was genuinely impressed.

While many people know about Tesla’s Powerwall, far fewer realise we have a UK‑designed and UK‑assembled energy storage manufacturer on our doorstep, creating smart, high‑performance battery systems tailored specifically for British homes, businesses and energy tariffs. 🇬🇧⚡️

What makes Pure Drive Energy stand out?

🔋 Designed and built in the UK – faster support, local jobs, and technology shaped around how we actually use energy here.

⚙️ In‑house battery engineering – they design their own battery systems rather than relying on overseas supply chains.

🌞 Optimised for UK solar & time‑of‑use tariffs – their PURA smart system can integrate with any tariff or solar setup to maximise savings.

🤝 Trusted brand partnership – they are the UK licensee bringing Duracell’s new home energy products to market.

🚗 Integrated EV charging – systems that sync your battery, solar, and car charging automatically for the greenest or cheapest charge.

It’s fantastic to see such innovation happening locally — and it’s a reminder that the future of clean energy isn’t just being shaped by global tech giants, but also by forward‑thinking companies right here in our communities.

Proud to support local skills, local manufacturing, and the transition to cleaner, smarter energy. 🌍✨

This is exactly why Cllr Richard Stanley, Cllr Alex Hegenbarth and I stood to represent our communities at Gloucestershire County Council — to make a difference and ensure residents’ voices are heard. By working with officers, we can challenge mistakes, press for accountability, and push for solutions that benefit everyone.

I know how disruptive these works have been, and I’d like to thank all the residents who raised their concerns. Your persistence has made sure action was taken quickly. I will continue working with colleagues and officers to prevent situations like this from happening again and to make sure our communities remain at the heart of decision-making.

Gloucestershire County Council statement: An apology to residents and update on works on B4632 Southam Road.

We sincerely apologise to residents that have been impacted by the pavement works on the B4632 Southam Road this week. We understand the disruption caused has been frustrating and upsetting, and we’re truly sorry.

Local county councillors and residents have raised concerns with us about the timing and impact of these works, and as a result, we have stopped all works tonight and removed the temporary traffic lights. The pavement will need to remain closed until the remaining works have been completed, which will be carried out over a weekend to minimise disruption for residents.

With the A435 already closed and causing disruption, these works should not have been approved. This was a mistake, and we take full responsibility.

We will also be following up with the traffic management company regarding the poor quality of temporary traffic lights supplied, which we know only added to the frustration and inconvenience experienced by residents.

We remain committed to listening to our communities and wish to thank everyone who voiced their concerns—we’re determined to do better in the future.
