Now you can also support the library service by donating online. You don't have to donate. Hertfordshire Libraries are a universal and free service to the community. Do you love poetry? Fancy reading something you've written, or perhaps a poem that you absolutely love?

Then save the date of our free Poetry Open Mic Night at Bishop's Stortford Library! 🎤

Everyone is welcome on National Poetry Day, Thursday 1 October at 7pm. This year's NPD theme is 'Wonder - our natural world', so if you have a favourite on that theme, please come along and share the wonder with us all! 🌳

*Also featuring poetry readings from Act 3 Theatre Company*

❗Library Closure reminder!❗

Bishop's Stortford Library will be closed for building work from Monday 14 September to Friday 25 September inclusive.

The library will be open again at 10am on Saturday 26 September.

While we are closed, you can use any other Hertfordshire library to return your books, or renew them online at hertfordshire.gov.uk/libraries or on the Hertfordshire Libraries app.

And if you're in need of new books asap and can't get to another library, you can use your library membership details to log in to BorrowBox and download ebooks and audiobooks for free!

There's just a week to go... if you've read all of your books for the Summer Reading Challenge, collect your certificate and medal from the library!

On Saturday 5 join us for a special challenge send off at our Lego drop in, where we'll be creating musical-themed builds. This will be between 1-4pm with a £1 donation per child.

There's still a week left until the Summer Reading Challenge comes to an end! It's been a super-fun theme this year - Read to the Beat - and we can't wait to hear about everything you've been reading.

Tell us all about your books (musical or not!) and collect your stickers. There's also a fantastic opportunity to win an exclusive place at our Summer Reading Challenge
author event with Gareth P. Jones!

All you have to do is complete the challenge at your local Hertfordshire Library by Sunday 6 September to be entered.

Autumn is approaching- here's what's on at Bishop's Stortford Library in September...

Sat 5:
Build a Band with Lego! We're waving goodbye to the Summer Reading Challenge with a music-themed Lego drop-in session. Ages 4+ are welcome with under 8s accompanied by an adult.
1-4pm, £1 per child.

Mon 7:
Bring a project to Craft Club and have a cup of tea and a chat while you work. This month Craft Club is a week earlier than usual and will resume its normal schedule in October.
Free, 10.30am-12pm. Donations welcome.

Wed 9:
This ‘n’ That is back with an Island Quiz!
Free, 10.30-11.30am. Donations welcome.

Our regular events are running throughout the month (while we are open):
Baby Rhyme Time- Tuesdays at 10.15am and 11.15am. Free, drop-in, donations welcome.
Storytime- Thursdays and Sundays at 2pm, Fridays 10.30am. Free, drop-in, donations welcome.
Lego Club- Mondays at 4-5pm and Saturdays at 3-4pm during term time only. Age 6+, booking required. Returning 29 September.
Children’s Creative Craft Corner- Saturdays at 11am-11.45am. Free, drop in.
D’n’D Club- Saturdays 11am-1pm. Age 12-16. Free, booking required.
Friday board games- Fridays 2-5pm. Free, drop-in.

ITS NOT TOO LATE!
There's still time to complete the
Summer Reading Challenge! Tell us all about the books
you've been reading and collect your certificate and
medal (or join us at our presentation!).

To be in with a chance of winning a ticket to a
book-themed musical workshop with award-winning
author Gareth P Jones, complete the challenge by
Sunday 6 for prize draw entry.

Well done to everybody who has participated so far-
whether you've finished the challenge or not.

The Summer Reading Challenge officially ends on
Sunday 6 September, but late finishers are still
welcome to collect their certificates- they just won't be
eligible for the prize draw.

Our Summer Reading Challenge Maker Stations have been amazing over the past five weeks! 🎵

And who's to say our rainmakers didn't bring us the rain we needed for so long?! 💧😆

Thank you to all our volunteers and to all of you for coming along, making musical instruments out of all sorts of recycled material, and having a lot of fun along the way.

🎹 Build a Band with Lego! 🎹

Come and finish the Summer Reading Challenge with a bang! 🥁

We are running a family drop-in session from 1-4pm on Saturday 5 September for children age 4+ to create music-themed Lego builds 🎸

Just £1 per child, you can finish the Summer Reading Challenge and have fun with Lego at the same time 🎵

Our usual Lego sessions will be restarting following our brief closure, on Saturday 26 September at 3pm, and you can sign up now!

(children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult at all Lego sessions)
