Eleven volunteers did tremendous work in the heat this morning helping to clear the castle mound of litter and scrub, which affects the castle walls. We hope everyone who visits enjoys the clearer castle. If you're visiting, look out for the green flag recently awarded to Castle Park, recognizing everyone's efforts to care for this great greenspace in the town.

Our annual Love Parks Week event returns to Castle Park in Bishop's Stortford for another afternoon of community fun! 🌞

Join us on Thursday, 30 July for a range of free activities, including an archaeology experience for kids where they can find hidden treasures, face painting, tennis coaching, arts and crafts, a story and rhyme time session hosted by Bishop's Stortford Library, and, of course, the ever-popular East Herts Love Parks Dog Show! 🐶

Love Parks Week is an annual campaign spearheaded by Keep Britain Tidy that puts a spotlight on parks and open spaces, as well as the people who care for those spaces and the communities they serve 💚

Another great session today, with much appreciated extra help from our friends the Geocachers. We have now cleared almost all the invasive Himalayan Balsam from our stretch of the river. We also collected several bags of rubbish and 2 trolleys from the park, which we're glad to have removed, though it was upsetting to find so much. We even gave the castle gate a new lick of paint! Our next conservation event will be on Saturday the 8th of August.
