🚌 Good news for bus passengers across Lancashire

The Government has announced that the bus fare cap will be reduced to £2 from January 2027, helping make public transport more affordable for millions of passengers.

Councillor Phil Riley, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council and Chair of the Lancashire Combined County Authority's Transport Committee, has welcomed the move, highlighting the benefits for residents travelling to work, education, healthcare appointments and other essential services.

Affordable, reliable public transport helps connect people with opportunities, supports local businesses and strengthens our economy.

Andy Burnham is giving thousands of pubs, clubs and music venues a 20% cut in business rates.

He believes these much loved local spaces are at the heart of our communities and that we cannot stand by while they disappear, leaving behind boarded-up windows and ‘For Sale’ signs.

That’s why The Labour Party is taking action to protect the venues where people come together, celebrate local culture and build stronger communities.
