What a wonderful day we had for our September activity. After brunch in the Lakeside Cafe at Fairhaven Lake, we walked around the lake, along the prom and back through the lovely Japanese garden. Was great to look out to sea and view Southport and Pendle Hill in the far distance. Admired the model of the aircraft which was shot down in 1942.
This prompted our visit to the Spitfire Visitor Centre at Blackpool Airport. The guides were so informative and welcoming and we had a talk explaining how the command room worked during the war. We learnt all about the Defiants which flew from there and the many accidents which happened. The Wellington Bombers were built there and the factory there employed over 10,000 men and women. Lovely chats with the volunteers over tea and cake in the NAAFI too. Early meal in the Air Balloon restaurant next door before heading home.

Our next activity for September is now available. It's hard thinking of something new every month for quite a lot of years now. Hope you like this one, the staff were wonderful when I went for the recce, even offered me a brew in the NAAFI.

27 people enjoyed our Connect with Cheryl break for 'Breakfast at Tiffanys'. Two days starting with our Connect activities and refreshments. Free time to spend in Blackpool or nearby Lytham before our evening meal and cabaret. I think it may be for the third year running next year!

Good time was had by all yesterday on Connect with Cheryl Treasure Train. We began in Bury to board the steam train after solving the first few clues around the station. Our next stop was the very pretty village at Irwell Vale for the next set. Boarded the train again to Ramsbottom and enjoyed lunch and finished the clues to work out who the murderer was and with what weapon. A very adult cluedo. Difficult at times and we used all our brain power but we finally solved it all.

Hi all, there's still time to book the Treasure Train on 29th July if you want to join us, but it's that's time of year when we are having to book our group Christmas party! The room is reserved for us but we need a minimum number to be able to enjoy that lovely function room. Look forward to having another fabulous event.

Our Connect with Cheryl July activity is now finalised. Book your place on the TREASURE TRAIN. Join us for an exiting mix of a steam train journey and solving an adult Cluedo.
Note that going forward from now, the membership scheme will decease. Mindful of cost of living increases, all participants will pay less and the same cost for all. I hope to welcome some old friends back and new friends may join us in the future.

Another great activity for June, Lakes and Lilies. After refreshments in the Treeface cafe in Yarrow Country Park, an easy paced walk followed around the spectacular lake and up to view the weir and famous Salmon Steps which were constructed to assist salmon and sea trout to swim up to access the pennine hills for spawning. A short move down to Birkacre Garden Centre where we enjoyed lunch and a mooch round the lovely flowers and plants.
