Something BIG is popping up around Hyndburn…

Our Big Accrington Sleep Out banners are officially out and about, helping us spread the word about one very important night.

On Friday 23 October, Shelter Lancashire and Maundy Relief are joining forces at Accrington Stanley for a night under the stars (and hopefully not too much rain!) to raise vital funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness.

New figures released this week show that 19 people died while homeless every week in England and Wales last year.

19 people dying every week is unspeakable. That’s 974 people in 2025.

A safe home is something we all need to live well. But with homelessness at record levels, thousands of people are being left without this most basic human necessity.

Ending homelessness must mean more than getting people through the night. People need safe emergency accommodation, specialist support and, crucially, permanent and genuinely affordable social homes where they can truly rebuild their lives.

Some people really do make the world a better place. Susan is one of them. Susan is one of our incredible Shelter Lancashire volunteers and we honestly couldn't do what we do without people like her.

Our volunteers make us a better organisation every single day, but Susan is one of those very special people who makes US better people too. It was commented in the hub last week that we should all be more Susan.

Her kindness, generosity and unwavering support mean more than words can say. THANK YOU, SUSAN! We're so lucky to have you as part of our Shelter Lancashire family. You're a homelessness hero.
