Fylde Coast Community First Responders

Fylde Coast Community First Responders The Fylde CFR Team are a group of individuals who volunteer their time to respond to emergencies. Every minute counts!

The team are trained to respond to a range of emergency calls across the Fylde coast. As Community First Responders, we are never knowingly sent to any incident where there is any risk or danger to ourselves. We are asked to attend incidents of the following nature:

Abdominal pain
Allergic reaction
Breathing problems
Fitting
Diabetic emergency
Chest pain
Stroke
Loss of consciousness
Collapse
Card

iac arrest
Respiratory arrest

Whilst attending an incident we provide care and support to the patient, monitor the patient’s pulse, oxygen level and administer oxygen if the patient’s condition requires. We may need to apply bandages and dressings to wounds if an injury has occurred and monitor the patient's condition whilst awaiting an ambulance. In more serious cases such as cardiac arrest we start CPR and, if required, deliver an electric shock using an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an attempt to restore the heart to a normal rhythm. Delay in the commencement of high quality CPR or defibrillation (if required), reduces the chance of a positive outcome by as much as 10% per minute. Early intervention by a CFR can really make a difference! We obtain any relevant history from the patient or family and gather items such as medication so they can go to hospital with the patient if required.
