🎢 ‘Beyond the Prom’ tour with Chris Webb MP in Brunswick Ward Blackpool

We were pleased to welcome Chris to our two monthly meetings, the ‘Stakeholders of Brunswick’ committee and Brunswick PACT meeting. 🤝

🗳️ When we were elected in 2023, we set up the Stakeholders committee to organise and coordinate community interventions in partnership with all the agencies working in the ward, in the interests of the residents.

👮 In addition, we set up the monthly PACT meetings to tackle crime in the area and to increase trust and confidence in policing.

Since 2023, there has been a 70 percent reduction in youth ASB and we have also set up a youth diversion project in partnership with the PACT, more recently we have worked with the PACT residents to tackle flytip in the area, which is a crime. 🗑️

Reported. Sorted. ✔️

The alleyway for Edelston Rd and Butler St had been littered with flytipped waste. We reported this to Enveco Blackpool and they removed it. Thank you to the resident that reported this to us 👏

We have our annual waste amnesty coming this September. Please let us know of any areas that would benefit from being reminded of it.

🌹 We have had a busy week in the ward…

🗞️ On Monday, Brunswick Community Garden was highlighted as being a transformed area in Blackpool Gazette

💚 Tuesday we met with GreenWave and green fingered residents on Layton Rec, to learn how to scythe.

👮 Wednesday we partnered with the Blackpool Police Cadets to engage with young people on the Queens Park Estate.

🏡 Thursday we met with Blackpool Coastal Housing on a walkabout around Addison Cresent and the surrounding streets, in which we reported flytip and spoke to residents about housing concerns.

B*H Walkabout!

We joined B*H today to inspect the housing stock and ask residents if they have any housing concerns. 🗣️

We identified some flytip and repairs that need to be made, as well as overgrown hedges and parking concerns.

In addition, we spotted some lovely plants in the communal areas of the flats on Devonshire Road. 🌺

🤝 Stakeholders of Brunswick 🤝

When we were first elected in 2023, I invited all the stakeholders working within Brunswick Ward Blackpool to an introductory meeting.

From then on we have continued to meet on a monthly basis to work together to coordinate community projects in the interests of the residents.

Projects have included a youth diversionary project, the establishment of a warm hub using the Household Support Fund, a dog fouling and litter campaign in schools, as well as the redevelopment of Brunswick Community Garden and the promotion of Active Blackpool through the new sports facility.

Recently, Chris Webb MP visited the Stakeholders as part of his ‘Beyond the Prom’ tour in which he told us the stakeholders model is something that should be replicated in every ward in the town.

I am pleased I have been able to build various structures and relationships on the ground in the ward, in order to identify priorities, understand the community and serve the residents, which I believe is the most important role of any elected member.

I look forward to continuing the partnership working, in the interests of the ward, as we move into the final year of the current term of office.
