Currently, our service delivery can be categorised into 5 operating divisions:
Advocacy: supporting adults to access or deal with health or social care services, ensuring individuals are able to explore options, exercise their rights and are kept at the centre of decision. This service includes non-instructed advocacy for people assessed as lacking capacity to make specific decisions relating to
health and social care, including people with dementia
Carers Support: supporting adult carers to reduce the impact of their caring role by providing information, practical and emotional support. Self-Harm Services: supporting young people to reduce / cease self harming through one-to-one counselling, group workshops and peer support. Health and wellbeing: these services aim to improve the general health and wellbeing of adults; the first port of call for practical support, guidance and/or information to reduce the risk of a wide range of issues escalating to crisis point. This service also includes a recently confirmed project to deliver cancer Awareness and Early Diagnosis Campaigns with a specific emphasis on bowel and breast cancer within Blackpool. Volunteers: Volunteers underpin each aspect of service delivery within n-compass and are an integral element of our organisation. Our Mission
n-compass aims to be the innovative leader and preferred provider in the provision of advocacy, carers, health and well-being, self-harm and volunteer development initiates and services, making a positive difference and enhancing life opportunities for adults and young people. n-compass will achieve this through developing and expanding its work as a specialist lead provider and by working collaboratively with key partners. Our commitment to establish effective partnerships is underpinned by acknowledging that no single organisation/sector can tackle deep-rooted social issues and problems alone. By working together we can create many more opportunities and take a co-ordinated approach to reach and support the communities we exist to support and to address the challenge of long-term sustainability for the services we deliver. History of n-compass
n-compass became an independent charitable organisation in 1999 under the name of Wyre & Fylde Advocacy, providing “issue specific” advocacy. It was established to promote, support and provide advocacy services to anyone disadvantaged through disability, physical/mental illness, age, social exclusion or any other adult who required support dealing with major health and social service providers and needed support to make their needs and wishes known in order to obtain appropriate services and so improve their quality of life. Since then the identification of unmet need for service users throughout the locality has led to the establishment of other specialised projects. n-compass now provides a range advocacy, carers, health &wellbeing and self-harm services. In order to reflect this, the name of the organisation changed in January 2007 to n-compass. General
