JUST ONE WEEK LEFT TO APPLY💡 Got an idea to make Blackpool greener? If you're aged 15 to 24, or know someone who'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.

The Youth Climate Action Fund offers funding for young people to bring environmental projects to life and make a positive difference in their communities.

Whether you're passionate about protecting nature, reducing waste, encouraging recycling or inspiring positive change where you live, support is available to help you develop your idea and submit an application.

👋 Blackpool Sixth Form students can also come along to a dedicated Youth Climate Action Fund session on 8 September, from 11.30am to 1.30pm, to find out more, ask questions and get support with their application.

🎈🌳 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Just FOUR weeks to go! We are very excited that we’ll soon be celebrating 100 years of one of Blackpool’s most treasured places - Stanley Park.

From the Italian Gardens and boating lake to the bandstand, sports facilities, Cocker Clock Tower and more, the park has been at the heart of Blackpool life for a century, creating memories for generations.

Now it’s time to celebrate 🥳

Join us on Saturday 3 October for a special centenary event, with family entertainment, activities, an artisan market, fairground rides and plenty more to enjoy across the park as it marks a very special milestone.

On Saturday evening, look to the skies as a spectacular drone show brings the centenary celebrations to a spectacular close.

100 years of Stanley Park. 100 years of memories. And one very special celebration to come.

This is very interesting and important. The context also relates to Talbot Ward and whilst we all want to do our bit to reduce crime it’s good to remember the big picture.

📊 A bit of context on crime figures in Claremont

You may see statistics showing that Claremont has a higher recorded crime rate than the national average. But it’s important to understand what sits behind those numbers.

Blackpool has around 144,000 residents, but welcomes millions of visitors every year. In 2024, that was more than 24 million visits!

Crime statistics are based on where offences are recorded, but the population figure used to calculate the rate is based on residents. So when thousands of people come into areas like Claremont to enjoy Blackpool’s bars, clubs, hotels and attractions, offences involving visitors are still counted — even though those visitors aren't included in the resident population.

Crime matters. But so does context.

We should look carefully at the facts and talk about crime responsibly, rather than using headline statistics in a way that makes problems feel worse than they are.

✅Resident had an issue with fly-tipping to the rear of their property within a small alleyway that was cause stress, working with the two local councillors Cllr Jane Hugo and Cllr Mark Smith who engaged with ENVECO Blackpool Councils waste service provider, arranged for the alleyway to be fully cleaned of all fly-tipping.
