Gmar Chatima Tova to all our Jewish communities here in Wales.

As communities marking Yom Kippur come together in reflection, prayer and renewal, we also remember those affected by the Heaton Park attack during last year's Yom Kippur.

On this day of reflection, we honour the victims, stand with their families and communities, and reaffirm our commitment to understanding, respect and peace.

We’re calling for a fairer funding deal for Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

At a summit of UK Finance Ministers today, Elin Jones called for reforms to how Wales is funded, greater powers to invest, delivery of rail funding commitments, and more support for communities across the country.

The way funding for Wales is calculated no longer reflects our country's needs. We want:

- A formal review of the 2016 Wales Fiscal Framework to make sure Wales has funding arrangements that are fit for the future.
- Greater borrowing powers and more flexibility over reserves, to help us plan and invest for the long term.
- Delivery of the UK Government's £14 billion rail investment commitment to address years of underinvestment in Wales.
- More funding to support economic growth, improve infrastructure, help with the cost of living, and restore former industrial sites.

We've launched a new plan to strengthen literacy and numeracy for children and young people across Wales, from the earliest years through to 16.

It includes clearer guidance for teachers, new national indicators and a baseline assessment when children start school.
