Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a 25-year-old man from Newton Leys has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of harassment.
The charges relate to an alleged sexual assault on 11 June, when a girl was reportedly touched inappropriately over her clothing, and the alleged harassment of a woman between 13 June and 16 July.
He was arrested on Thursday 16 July, charged on Friday 17 July and appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court today, Saturday 18 July. He has been remanded in custody pending his next court appearance at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
I would like to thank the Neighbourhood Policing Team based at the Blue Light Hub for the considerable amount of work they have put into this investigation and into presenting the case to the court. They have kept me, Callum Anderson MP and Cllr Ed Hume informed about the work taking place, even where operational reasons meant that information could not be shared publicly.
Just because police activity is not always discussed on this group does not mean that nothing is happening behind the scenes. Officers have worked extremely hard this week, and I am grateful for their continued engagement with the community.
Thank you also to Callum and Ed for their involvement and support over recent days.
As criminal proceedings are now active, please do not post speculation, allegations, personal information or anything that could prejudice the case. Comments will be moderated accordingly.
