📱 Could you help tell the story of Blyth Lifeboat Station?

We’re looking for a volunteer Social Media Officer to join the team at RNLI Blyth.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves content, storytelling, photography, reels, local community, and making social media actually mean something.

At Blyth Lifeboat Station, our volunteers launch to save lives at sea. But behind every launch, training night, fundraising event, water safety message and community moment, there’s a story that needs to be shared.

That’s where you come in.

As our Social Media Officer, you’ll help bring the station to life online by creating engaging posts, sharing updates, celebrating our volunteers, promoting safety messages, and helping the local community feel connected to the work of the RNLI.

You don’t need to be lifeboat crew. You don’t need maritime experience. You just need creativity, enthusiasm, good judgement, and a passion for making a real impact.

This role could be perfect for someone who:

📸 Loves creating content
🎥 Enjoys reels, photos, stories and social media trends
💬 Has a way with words
🌊 Cares about the local community
🧡 Wants to support a lifesaving charity
🚤 Would love to be part of the team behind the crew

Your posts could help recruit new volunteers, share vital water safety advice, support fundraising, and show people what really happens behind the doors of Blyth Lifeboat Station.

Blyth Lifeboat Station has been saving lives since 1826 and today operates both a D class and Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat. This is your chance to help tell the next chapter of that story.

Be creative. Be part of the crew. Help save lives at sea, one post at a time.

🌊 Could you help save lives at sea, before anyone even gets wet? 🌊

Blyth Lifeboat Station is looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to join our Water Safety Team.

We currently have two brilliant opportunities available:

🛟 Water Safety Officer
Lead and support our local water safety activity, helping us share lifesaving advice across the community.
Apply here:

💬 Water Safety Adviser
Help deliver important safety messages to local people, schools, groups, clubs and anyone who enjoys the coast or water.
Apply here:

This is a fantastic way to get involved with the RNLI crew, without having to get wet! You’ll help people make safer choices, understand the risks, and know what to do if something goes wrong.

From beach safety and cold water shock, to lifejackets, paddleboarding, swimming, angling and coastal walks, water safety advice can make a real difference. Sometimes, the best rescue is the one that never has to happen.

You don’t need to be an expert. We’re looking for people who are approachable, willing to learn, good with people, and passionate about helping our community stay safe.

Be part of

💙 Help us prevent incidents.
🧡 Help us protect lives.
🌊 Help us share the message

🎉 Congratulations Iain! 🎉

A huge well done to Iain on becoming a newly qualified Launch Authority at here at Blyth!

The Launch Authority plays a vital role in lifeboat operations. They are responsible for assessing emergency requests, working closely with HM Coastguard, and authorising the launch of the lifeboat when help is needed at sea. It is a role that carries real responsibility, requiring calm judgement, local knowledge, and a strong understanding of the capabilities of the crew, lifeboat and conditions.

Becoming a Launch Authority takes commitment, training and dedication, and Iain has worked hard to reach this important milestone.

On behalf of everyone at Blyth Lifeboat Station, congratulations Iain. Thank you for stepping into such an important role and for the part you will play in helping keep people safe on the water.

👏 Well done, Iain!

Come along & enjoy a nice cuppa & some treats! 💙🧡 #

🚢 Tragic News from our Search & Rescue Family 🚢

All of us at Blyth RNLI are deeply saddened to hear the devastating news coming out of Sydney, . Two volunteer rescuers from Marine Rescue NSW have tragically lost their lives while responding to a yacht in distress in treacherous seas.

This sobering news resonates profoundly with every member of our crew. Whether in the North Sea or the Pacific, the bond between lifesavers is universal. We all step forward for the same reason: not for reward, but because someone out there needs us.

This tragedy is a stark reminder that the sea is unpredictable and unforgiving. Even with the best training and experience, our volunteers leave their families and the safety of the shore to face forces that can be far beyond anyone’s control.

We stand in solidarity with our Australian colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families, friends, and fellow crew members of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Their courage and selflessness will never be forgotten. 🧡
