Theres Something in the Woodshed at The Briardale

Theres Something in the Woodshed at The Briardale Theres Something in the Woodshed is an exciting new project from the Briardale Community Centre.

The Briardale Community Centre are pleased to announce the launch of their brand new project “Theres Something in the Woodshed” after receiving funding from the Community Foundation (The Hokey Cokey(thats what it’s all about) Fund and the Joseph Brough Charitable Trust! The project was conceived in early 2015 as a way for the Briardale Community Centre to strengthen and develop their relationship

with the Probation Service and the Northumberland Youth Offending Team by offering their clients the opportunity to learn new skills and share their talents. In-keeping with the Briardale’s environmental ethos, the project will be recycling wooden pallets into various different things, primarily garden planters and furniture. There is also future scope for the project to develop it’s own in house training scheme for things such as Abrasive Wheels, Health & Safety and Basic Manual Handling. It is hoped that the project will encourage those who may have low level convictions or be at risk of turning to a life of crime or re-offending through peer lead mentoring and skill sharing. Although the project is working with the aforementioned organisations, the project is open to everyone in the local community, if you have a skill to share or would like to learn new skills, why not pop on down to the woodshed and see whats going on?
