We're asking residents to remain vigilant following recent reports of theft from vehicles and theft of vehicle in the local area. Offenders have been targeting insecure vehicles and taking advantage of items left in the vehicle.

Please take a moment to review your vehicle security:

ALWAYS lock your vehicle, even when parked on your driveway or outside your home.

REMOVE valuables such as bags, wallets, tools and electronics, where this isn't possible ensure, they are completely out of sight.

CHECK your windows are fully closed.

CONSIDER additional security such as steering locks, tracking devices and CCTV/Ring Doorbell and Dash Cam.

REPORT any suspicious behaviour immediately via 999 if the crime is in progress or 101/online for non-emergencies.

Your awareness and quick reporting will help us to identify patterns and target patrols effectively.

Thanks

We are aware of a post shared on the Bodmin's Voice community Facebook group yesterday, Thursday 21 May, following an alleged incident in the town.

Sadly, the post attracted a number of derogatory and inaccurate comments which has been reported to us for further investigation.

We would like to remind people of the importance of not speculating online - particularly concerning active Police investigations.

Over the last 24 / 48hrs there have been multiple reports of vehicles having been accessed / broken into in the Padstow & St Eval areas. If you have witnessed any suspicious behaviour then please get in touch.

In some cases, vehicles have been left insecure and valuables including cash have been left within the vehicles overnight.

It only takes seconds for a thief to take valuables from your car. It also only takes seconds for you to remove them. Here’s five quick ways to protect your belongings.

1. Lock your vehicle at all times
2. Close windows
3. Remove all valuables
4. Don’t leave shopping on the back seat
5. Park your vehicle in a safe and well-lit area

Just a reminder.

Bodmin NPT have seized three E-Scooters this week.

It is illegal to ride a privately owned electric scooter (also known as an ‘e-scooter’) in public, for example on pavements, on roads or in parks.

They require Insurance and a Driving Licence.

They can be used on Private land with the landowner’s permission.

Riding a private e-scooter in public can lead to fines, penalty points on a driving licence, and seizure of the vehicle.

Some people never learn…

Today Bodmin Police received a report of a White BMW driving dangerously around the Town Centre and Priory Park.

The vehicle was swerving in and out of the road, speeding and revving in the town centre.

Units from Bodmin Neighbourhood and Road Traffic located the vehicle and stopped it outside Lidl.

Turns out the Driver already had a S59 Warning for driving in an Anti-Social manner.

So, we seized the car, reported the driver, and let them walk home.

Just a highlight of some of the jobs this week. Some individuals make it a little easier.

While passing Priory Park a male decided to start running from Police (not suspicious)

While running away, he’s dropped a bag of Class A drugs and his mobile phone on the floor….

While officers went to collect these items, he’s decided to come back for his mobile resulting in an arrest.

Another male having left Bodmin Court has decided to steal a member of publics phone, in front of the Court... He was arrested and will appear in Court on Monday. Again.

This evening officers have stopped a youth after he was walking around Bodmin with a giant “bong.” When he was searched a knuckleduster was located. He was arrested.

It’s not everyday we get to meet our hero’s…. and today they showed up with buckets and brushes...

In the morning of Easter-Bank Holiday Weekend, Bodmin Response Team were carrying out their daily activities.

After just coming away from an incident, resuming their patrol, they noticed suspicious activity from a certain location.

Lots of cars were coming and going, some were dirty, some were clean, most drivers left with a grin from ear to ear.

The officer could see goods being exchanged and so acted on this quickly…. Driving in and coming to a screeching halt.

Only to realise upon closer inspection the real emergency was how dirty their car was. No hoses spared, no soap wasted, most importantly coffee and cake consumed.

The best part, learning about the important cause from Fire Crew Abi and Dan fundraising for Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust (FLEET). Abi & Dan will be running the London Marathon on the 26th of April 2026 in support for raising money and awareness for FLEET. FLEET provide the public with lifesaving equipment so it’s there when you, a friend, a loved one or anyone needs it. From Bleed Kits to Defibrillators on the shop corners or even Trauma Bags carried on Fire Engines.

A great cause to help motivate the pair to use their feet for FLEET.
