NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly The integrated care board for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We are part of the wider Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care System.

Our job is to plan and buy health and care services for the people registered with GP practices in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly. These services include planned hospital care, mental health and learning disability services, urgent and emergency care, children’s health services, community services, NHS 111, a GP out of hours service and some primary care services. This is a partnership of health and

care organisations who will work together to plan and deliver services and improve the health of people who live in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

💚Did you know that 1 in 3 adults have high blood pressure without knowing it?

High blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms, but it can increase your risk of serious health problems, including strokes and heart attacks.

The good news is that knowing your numbers means you can take action to protect your health.

🩺 Get your blood pressure checked for free

You can get checked at participating community pharmacies, GP surgeries and local health events.

You can also borrow a home blood pressure monitor from a library. They’re easy to use, and you can reserve one online.

👉 Find your nearest free check, reserve a monitor and explore helpful resources: https://cios.icb.nhs.uk/help-us/know-your-numbers/](https://cios.icb.nhs.uk/help-us/know-your-numbers/

If your blood pressure is high, don’t ignore it. Contact your GP to discuss your reading and find out what to do next.

💚 Small changes can make a big difference

There are simple steps you can take to help keep your blood pressure lower and support your overall wellbeing:

✅ Eat well and enjoy a balanced diet
✅ Stay active in ways you enjoy
✅ Limit alcohol and salt
✅ Get enough sleep
✅ Find ways to manage stress
✅ Check your blood pressure regularly

Your physical and mental health are closely linked. Looking after your blood pressure can help protect your heart and support your wellbeing too. If you’re feeling low or anxious, talk to your GP — support is available.

It’s never too late to start putting your health first.💚

This month is Gynae Cancer Awareness Month. Do you know the symptoms of the 5 gynaecological cancers? 👇

As we head into Gynae Cancer Awareness Month this September, it’s the perfect time to brush up on your knowledge of the signs and symptoms of the five gynae cancers.

If you have any of these symptoms, they’re more likely to be caused by something less serious than cancer, but they’re always worth getting checked, just in case.

Picking up the gynae cancers at the earliest possible stage is really important in opening up more treatment options and it gives you the best possible chance of successful treatment.

If you have spotted any of these symptoms, do visit your GP to get investigated. Our Ask Eve Nurses are also here to speak to for free and can help answer any questions and provide information.

We have lots more information on the five gynae cancers on our website:
