Bodmin Town Council Bodmin Town Council's Vision:
To create a sustainable and vibrant community for Bodmin.

Formed as a result of the reorganisation of local government in the mid 1970's, Bodmin Town Council serves a town population of approximately 15,300. A total of 16 Councillors (7 representing St Marys & St Leonard Ward, 2 representing St Lawrence Ward and 7 representing St Petroc’s Ward) are elected to serve on the Town Council for a term of 4 years. Each year the Council elects one of their numbe

r to be the Mayor who acts as a Civic Leader and chairs Council Meetings. The Council liaises with the principal authority for the area (Cornwall Council) and provides services for the local community along with thousands of tourists who visit the town every year. Next Saturday! Over 200 Bards of Gorsedh Kernow gather at Priory Park, Bodmin for the annual ceremony, welcoming 21 new Bards in recognition of their outstanding work in serving Cornwall.

Entertainment before the ceremony includes Gwerin - Cornish Dance, The Horners, Berrycombe School Choir, Bodmin Town Band, Mazed with Nellie Sloggett and Cornish Wrestling demonstrations.

Stalls from 10:30am include Federation of Old Cornwall Societies, Speak Cornish, Kowethas: The Cornish Language Fellowship, Agan Tavas, Cornwall Heritage Trust, Millie's, Exotic Watermelons Cornwall and The Cornish Kilt Company.

The evening Gorsedh Concert in Shire House Suite features four part vocal harmony group, Hireth, singing in the Cornish language, Cornish-Celtic tunes and songs from Toby and Jen Kessell, and folk songs and tunes from Ralph Nel, featuring Elizabeth Freeborn.
