Finally got some proper rain today and it's soaking into the soil nicely after few days of mizzle. Some plants managed through the heat waves without any watering though. The Bugloss has been constantly heaving with bees and hoverflies for weeks now while the Verbena bonariensis is popular with butterflies too. Both have naturally seeded around the garden, but this Bugloss seems more like Echium parviflorum rather than the taller spires of native E. vulgare which came and went quite quickly. Both may have been in the wild flower seed mix I spread last year, but the Mediterranean small leaved Bugloss has perform very well through the drought.
The Pendragon apples, although small this year, are beginning to ripen very well and are very tasty!
