Announcing 4 new Citizens Advice sessions at Bolton community libraries!

Harwood and Farnworth Library: Thursday 4 June, 1pm-4:45pm
Blackrod Library: Thursday 12 June 10am-12pm
Horwich Library: Thursday 18 June 1pm-4:45pm

Please note- booking an appointment is necessary so please contact your local library branch for more information and to confirm your place.

Don't forget our regular Thursday sessions at Little Lever and Westhoughton Libraries, and our weekly Tuesday afternoon sessions at Breightmet Library.

It's the final day of ‘Look for a Book’!
Today we've hidden copies of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" across Bolton.

Before you begin your quest, please remember all children must be accompanied and search during good daylight hours and follow park rules to avoid damage to the area.

Today Book Locations:
4 x Smithills Hall

Books will be in position from 12:00pm when the Hall opens. It is free to visit and open until 4pm

If you discover a copy of the book, tell us where you found the book to enter the prize draw and be in with a chance to meet Corinne at event in Stockport.

Today we've hidden copies of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On" across Bolton.

Before you begin your quest, please remember all children must be accompanied and search during good daylight hours and follow park rules to avoid damage to the area.

Bolton's Egypt Spring Study Day 2026
Saturday 6th June, 10.30am - 7pm

Only one week to go until our next Bolton's Egypt Study Day, where you can get hands-on with ancient history, guided by some of the UK's leading Egyptological experts!

In this "Animals in Ancient Egyptian Religion" Study Day experts include:
- Egyptologist Prof Joann Fletcher
- archaeological chemist Dr Stephen Buckley
- Egyptologist and Curator of Egypt and Sudan at Manchester Museum, Dr Campbell Price
- Egyptologist and animal mummy expert, Dr Lidija McKnight
- Bolton Curator and Natural Historian, Lauren Field
- Bolton Curator and Egyptologist, Ian Trumble

In a series of talks and interactive hands-on workshops they will help you explore why animals were central to ancient Egyptian belief. You will learn why they were revered as sacred beings, embodying divine power, but also played essential social and practical roles in everything from food and labour to fertility and protection. You will explore the animals encountered by the ancient Egyptians, how they were featured in daily life, and how they were incorporated into the ancient Egyptian belief system of life, death and the afterlife.
The day will end with drinks and food in the Bolton's Egypt galleries with a chance to chat the the experts in a relaxed environment.
