GHG Legal Consultant protects your rights, challenges police conduct, & supports you every stage of the way! Hi, I’m Gail Hadfield‑Grainger. In 2012, I lost my partner, Anthony, to a fatal police shooting—an experience that transformed me from victim to voice. As an Accredited Police Station Representative with degrees in Law, Criminology, and a Master’s in Criminal Justice, I help people who need

justice and fairness. I believe that legal support should feel like a conversation—not an interrogation—and that justice is about people, not jargon.

DO YOU REALLY GET “ONE PHONE CALL” AFTER ARREST?

Not quite.

If you are detained at a police station, you normally have the right to have one person told where you are as soon as practicable.

That does not necessarily mean you have an automatic right to personally make the call. The police may contact the person on your behalf.

In limited circumstances, this right can be delayed—but only where the legal conditions are met. The reason and length of any delay should be recorded in the custody record.

As an Accredited Police Station Representative, I can:

⚖️ check what has been recorded in the custody record
⚖️ establish why your request has been refused or delayed
⚖️ challenge decisions where the proper legal grounds are not met
⚖️ advise and represent you throughout your detention and interview

You can also ask for FREE and independent legal advice at the police station. That is separate from your right to have someone informed.

If you or a family member has been arrested, contact GHG Legal:

A detainee normally has the right to have one person informed of their arrest as soon as practicable. That right appears in PACE 1984, s.56 and PACE Code C, para 5.1, subject to limited statutory grounds for delay.

SHOULD YOU ANSWER POLICE QUESTIONS OR SAY “NO COMMENT”?

There is no single answer that is right for every case.

You have the right to remain silent—but a court may, in certain circumstances, draw an adverse inference if you later rely on an important fact that you could reasonably have mentioned during your police interview.

That does not mean you should automatically answer every question. A “no comment” interview may be appropriate in some cases, particularly where the police disclosure is limited or the evidence needs to be challenged.

The correct strategy depends on the allegation, the available evidence, the information disclosed by the police and your individual circumstances.

As an Accredited Police Station Representative, I can:

⚖️ obtain and assess the police disclosure
⚖️ explain the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence
⚖️ advise whether to answer questions, provide a prepared statement or make no comment
⚖️ protect your interests throughout the interview

Do not make this decision without legal advice.
Representation at the police station is FREE.

The police caution warns that a court may draw an inference if, when questioned, you fail to mention a fact later relied on in your defence. Section 34 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 applies only where its statutory conditions are met. Silence is a legal decision: obtain advice before interview.

BEEN INVITED TO A “VOLUNTARY” POLICE INTERVIEW?

Do not mistake “voluntary” for an informal chat.

You will be interviewed under caution. Your answers can be used as evidence—and what you say, how you explain it, or what you fail to mention could affect your case later.

You are not under arrest and can normally leave unless the police arrest you. However, that does not make the interview any less serious.

As an Accredited Police Station Representative, I can:

⚖️ speak to the police and obtain information about the allegation
⚖️ examine the disclosure provided before the interview
⚖️ advise you privately on your rights and options
⚖️ represent and protect your interests throughout the interview

Independent legal advice at the police station is FREE.
Asking for representation does not make you look guilty—it means you are taking the situation seriously.

A voluntary police interview is still an interview under caution. You are not under arrest and may leave unless arrested, but what you say can be used in evidence. PACE Code C, paras 3.21–3.22B, provides safeguards including the entitlement to free legal advice.

I struggled with knowing how to help people back in 2020.... After an horrific deal I had to deal with that I would never wish upon anyone ..

Had it not been for a very good friend of mine — Irish Imy, Imran Ali — I honestly do not think I would have found the strength to stand tall and support others the way I do today.

Now is the time to give a voice to others.
VOTE IMRAN FOR OLDHAM!!!

People do not need my voice when they have Imran, because Imran Ali is the voice of the community.

That is exactly why I believe Imran Ali for Werneth's Councillor is the right choice.

My only regret in all of this is that I am not in Oldham, because as a woman fighting the system and struggling to have her voice heard, I would have Imran by my side every single time.

HERE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE - https://youtu.be/um1_x8AjwKI?si=CFCfEreDmoyN5pP7

WE NEED REAL PEOPLE
WE NEED REAL EXPERIENCE
WE NEED PEOPLE WE KNOW WILL BE THERE FOR THIS THAT NEED IT!!

💜 Stalking - The Reality Behind The Headlines 💜

Stalking is not romance. It is not persistence. It is not harmless obsession. It does not always mean someone hiding in the shadows or peering through your curtains.

With the way society is now, and the rise of social media and the internet, stalking is evolving.

It does not “just go away” if you ignore it.

It is fear. It is control. It is exhaustion. It is the constant feeling that someone will not let you live in peace.

What many people do not see is the hidden toll:
🔹 Repeated unwanted contact
🔹 Court battles and endless stress
🔹 Anxiety every time your phone rings
🔹 Looking over your shoulder
🔹 Isolation,
🔹 Changing your usual daily life
🔹 Trying to rebuild while someone tries to pull you backwards

Too often victims are told to ignore it, minimise it, or wait until it gets worse.

We need better awareness. Faster action. Stronger protection. And a clear message that stalking is serious.

If you are going through it now: keep records, trust your instincts, seek support, and do not be ashamed to speak up.

📌 Where to get help:
🔹 Report immediate danger to 999
🔹 Non-emergency police reports via 101
🔹 Paladin National Stalking Advocacy Service
🔹 Suzy Lamplugh Trust / National Stalking Helpline
🔹 Victim Support
🔹 Speak to a solicitor about injunctions / protective orders
🔹 Tell trusted family, friends, employer or school — do not suffer in silence

No one should have to fight for peace.
