We have nine branch libraries and one Mobile Library Service providing books, audiobooks, DVDs, music, free internet access and much, much more. Our Libraries provide a stimulating and safe environment for everyone with a wide range of activities including reading groups, crafts for young and old, Bookbug sessions, author visits and computer support classes. Join Midlothian Ranger Alan, and Juliet, our words for wellbeing facilitator for this guided walk as we consider the origins of the Esk and Gore Waters and reflect on our own origins through writing prompts. Part of a series of walks blending nature, history, creativity, and community with a chance to explore our local landscapes, pause to notice, and put pen to paper.

You are welcome to come along - no experience needed, just curiosity, a packed lunch, and a good pair of boots.

Happy Week! 🎉

Baby Robbie visited his local Library for the first time after Mum Emma got his membership through the ECALM scheme. He's signed up for the Bookbug Library Challenge just in time for Bookbug Week and even got his first certificate!

Emma said "Robbie had such a great first time at the library with some of his favourite teddies."

A technical fault with the new Mobile Library has been identified and requires urgent repair.

As a result, the launch of the Mobile Library service is delayed. The Mobile Library will not begin its timetable on 20 May as planned.

A Midlothian Council spokesperson said: “We know how important the Mobile Library is to local communities and how much people were looking forward to its arrival.

“We’re sorry that we can’t start the service as planned. Our priority now is to fix the fault as quickly and safely as possible so the library is reliable from day one.

“As soon as the repairs are complete, we’ll confirm a new start date and share an updated timetable. We’ll also announce the winning name from the competition at that time.

“Thank you to residents for their patience and understanding while we resolve this.”
