Cllr Adeel Shah attended the AGM of the Deadwater Valley Trust yesterday as well as Cllr Andy Tree and Cllr Linda Delve who is the town council’s greenspace and greening campaign representative.
Cllr Shah said: “It was a pleasure to attend the AGM of the Deadwater Valley Trust (DVT) this evening and to learn more about the incredible work being carried out across Whitehill, Bordon, the Deadwater Valley Local Nature Reserve, Bordon Inclosure and Hogmoor Inclosure. The Trust plays such an important role in conserving and enhancing our local green spaces and supporting biodiversity across the area.
“In the photo are members of DVT alongside trustees who continue to support and guide the organisation’s fantastic work as well as councillors.
“I learnt a great deal about the projects and conservation efforts currently taking place, and it was especially encouraging to see the photo presentation showcasing the wide variety of work undertaken by the Deadwater Valley Trust over the past year.
“One of the most impressive updates shared was that, in just the past few months, volunteers have contributed over 500 hours of work to support the Trust’s activities. It was also very positive to hear that membership is continuing to grow steadily.
“The value of volunteering was highlighted further with the news that, over the last year alone, volunteer support saved the Trust more than £21,000 — a remarkable contribution from local people who care deeply about protecting and improving our natural environment.
“Thank you to everyone involved for their dedication and commitment to preserving these wonderful community spaces for future generations.”
Cllr Andy Tree said: “The 10-year service contract we put in place between town council and DVT for them to manage Bordon Inclosure and Deadwater Valley Local Nature Reserve is working incredibly well and their team of rangers and also the unpaid volunteers and trustees do a great job! Thank you to our member Linda Delve too for her work as Greenspaces ‘lead’”
