“Children deserve better than survival. They deserve peace. They deserve calm."

We are sharing the following words from a survivor who grew up experiencing domestic abuse. With honesty and reflection, she shares how this shaped her outlook and her self-worth. She has chosen to do this because of a drive to help others and raise awareness.

This survivor wrote:
“I didn't know love wasn't supposed to hurt.
“I thought staying proved you loved someone.
“I thought sacrificing yourself was what partners did.
“I thought surviving was the same as being loved.
“I couldn't have been more wrong.
“Sometimes I wonder what my life would have looked like if my mum had left sooner.
“Not because I blame her I never could.
“I know now how impossible leaving can feel.
“I know about fear.
“I know about manipulation.
“I know about trauma bonds.
“I know that leaving is often the most dangerous time.
“This isn't about blaming her.
“It's about grieving the little girl I used to be.
“Because maybe... Just maybe... If I'd seen my mum choose herself... I'd have learned I was allowed to choose myself too.
“Maybe I'd have recognised the warning signs. Maybe I'd have walked away the first time someone made me feel small. Maybe I wouldn't have spent years chasing people who only knew how to break me. Maybe I wouldn't have confused control with care. Maybe I would have known that love shouldn't leave bruises—on your body or on your soul.
“People say children need two parents. I disagree.
“Children need safety.
“Children need peace.
“Children need to know they'll wake up tomorrow with the people they love still alive.
“I'd rather my child grew up in one tiny flat full of laughter than a mansion full of fear.
“I'd rather my child had one happy parent than watched one parent bury the other.
“I'd rather my daughter learned that walking away from abuse is strength than grow up believing enduring it is love.
“Children deserve better than survival.
“They deserve peace.
“They deserve calm.
“They deserve homes where laughter is louder than shouting.
“Where footsteps don't make their stomachs drop.
“Where keys turning in the front door don't fill them with dread.
“Where bedtime means stories instead of tears.
“We spend so much time protecting children from strangers.
“We worry about social media. We worry about drugs. We worry about bad influences.
“Yet some children are living with the most dangerous thing they'll ever encounter... Inside their own home.
“Abuse doesn't just leave bruises. It rewires children.
“It teaches them that love hurts. That fear is normal.
“That silence is safer than speaking. That surviving is the same as living.
“It takes years to unlearn those lessons.
“I'm still trying.
“So when I say don't stay together just for the children... Please understand where those words come from.
“They come from the little girl who thought every scream was going to be the last one she ever heard.
“They come from the woman who spent years accepting less than she deserved because abuse felt familiar.
“And they come from a mum who would rather her daughter grow up with one peaceful home than two parents trapped in a violent one.
“Because homes aren't built by keeping two adults under one roof.
“They're built with love. With safety. With respect. With peace.
“If those things have gone, then sometimes the bravest thing you can do for your children isn't staying.
“It's leaving.
“Because leaving doesn't always break a family.
“Sometimes...It's the first step towards finally saving one.”

With exceptional care, dedication and professionalism, DC Helen Wood has an outstanding ability to build trust and confidence with victims, including those who are initially reluctant to engage. For her outstanding efforts in this area, she received the Victim Care Award at our Annual Force Awards ceremony.

With genuine concern and a reassuring manner, she helps victims feel safe. She seeks to understand each person’s circumstances and consistently goes the extra mile to ensure they receive the support they need.

Her care extends to seeking ways to reduce the impact of criminal justice processes on victims but at the same time ensuring that their voices are heard, securing support for them to give evidence.

Working within one of the most challenging areas of policing, Helen supports some of the most vulnerable members of the community at some of the most difficult times in their lives, always treating them with dignity and compassion. Despite the challenges, Helen remains steadfastly determined to secure the best possible support and outcomes and the difference she makes can be life-changing for victims. 💙

This man's arrival in Boston CID was described as a breath of fresh air. DC Chad Birch didn’t quietly assume the accepted practices in the department, he brought new ideas and boundless enthusiasm for getting results. This dedication was recognised when he was awarded Investigator of the Year at the Force Annual Awards.

Examples of his work include two notable achievements which came in the space of just two months. The first being Chad’s dedicated efforts following reports of indecent exposure. Through diligent analysis, Chad identified key details and a pattern to the offences leading him to a van matching the description. This meticulous approach coupled with Chad’s determination led to the swift arrest of a suspect.

The second example of Chad’s exemplary work relates to a robbery in which three victims were tied up and jewellery was stolen. Chad scoured the evidence, first to trace a vehicle, and then to identify two offenders who have subsequently pleaded guilty at court.

Chad’s relentless pursuit of suspects, and his talent for building rapport with victims, is helping to secure justice and keep Lincolnshire safe.

Wong, 35, is wanted for recall to prison in relation to offences of the supply of class A drugs.

He is known to the Boston, Fishtoft and Tattershall areas of Lincolnshire.

Parents, do you know what your kids are up to when they are out and about?
We have had reports of a group of youths causing ASB on Stanley drive and Park avenue, Sutterton.
One of these reports is for Criminal damage as a window at an address has been broken as a stone has been thrown at it, which has left the elderly resident very upset and very shaken.
A crime report has been submitted for this damage.
The same group also tried to smash other windows in the area too, thankfully they were unsuccessful.
Regular and ongoing patrols by our Neighbourhood officers will be carried out and anyone causing ASB will be dealt with robustly.

🚔 Market Place, Boston – your concerns, our action

Following reports from local residents about anti-social driving in the Market Place area of Boston, PCs Winyard and Gaiger were out on patrol on Tuesday evening (29 September), targeting the behaviour causing concern.

The Market Place continues to be a hotspot for anti-social vehicle use, and after receiving reports of loud revving, popping and banging exhausts, excessive acceleration and other nuisance driving, officers took immediate action.

In just 45 minutes, officers issued:

✅ 3 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) for driving without due care and attention.
✅ 2 Section 59 notices, resulting in the seizure of two vehicles.

One vehicle, a SEAT Ibiza, was observed wheel-spinning and accelerating aggressively close to officers dealing with another incident. A second vehicle, a VW Golf, was also involved in driving behaviour that appeared consistent with street racing and anti-social vehicle use.

We know anti-social driving can have a significant impact on local communities, affecting residents' quality of life and making people feel unsafe. Tackling this type of behaviour remains a priority, and despite ongoing demands on our resources, we will continue to take action where offences are identified.

🚨It's also worth noting that recent changes to legislation mean officers now have stronger powers to deal with anti-social vehicle use. In appropriate circumstances, vehicles can be seized without a previous warning having been issued.

Thank you to those who continue to report concerns to us. Your information helps us target our patrols and take positive action against those whose behaviour causes disruption within our communities.

There will be an increased police presence over the coming days at Boston High School as officers continue to provide reassurance and support to the school communities.

We were alerted to a concern for safety relating to a pupil at Boston High School, Spilsby Road, Boston at 11.19am on Monday 14 September.

A teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in a public place and she has been released under investigation, with relevant safeguarding measures in place.

We can confirm that we are working with parents, the school, and relevant authorities to address the situation and investigations remain on-going.

Our Neighbourhood Policing Team officers have been carrying out reassurance patrols at Boston High School this morning, engaging with pupils, staff and the wider school community to listen to and address any concerns. There is likely to be an increased police presence at the school over the coming days as officers continue to provide reassurance and support.

Six people have been arrested following a drugs warrant on Pilgrim Close, Boston.

Neighbourhood Policing Officers carried out a pre-planned warrant with specialist officers as part of our disruption to drug supply in Boston.

Officers entered a property on Pilgrim Close just before 10am on Monday 7 September.

Three women aged 33, 37 and 49 years old, and three men aged 36, 41 and 46 years old were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. They have been bailed while investigations remain on-going.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector, Ian Cotton said: “We understand the impact drug-related crime has on communities and encourage people to report concerns via our website, by calling 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers. Every report helps build our intelligence picture and target resources where they are needed most. While action may not always be immediately visible, work is continually taking place to tackle drug-related crime and address community concerns.”

Boston CID’s Detective Chad Birch said: “Investigations into organised crime are often complex and can take time, but our detectives remain committed to identifying those responsible for bringing drugs and criminality into our communities. We continue to gather evidence, develop intelligence and pursue all available lines of enquiry. We encourage members of the public to keep reporting concerns and sharing information that could help us build a stronger intelligence picture. Although the outcomes of this work may not always be immediately visible, significant activity is taking place behind the scenes every day. Information provided by the public is invaluable. It helps us identify emerging issues, target our resources effectively, take action against those causing harm, and achieve lasting improvements for our communities.”

We are appealing for information to locate family members of a woman who has sadly died in a house fire in Swineshead.

UPDATED APPEAL 09/09/26 7.10PM: Fire investigation at a property in Swineshead

We are saddened to confirm the death of a woman in her 80s after a house fire in Swineshead.

Emergency services were called to an address on Bullen’s Lane, Swineshead, Boston, on Monday (7 September) at 5:37pm to a report of a fire at the property.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. We believe this to be the body of the 86-year-old woman who lived at the property, although formal identification has not yet taken place.

Despite extensive enquiries, we have been unable to locate any next of kin for this woman.

UPDATE: 09/09/26 - 7.10PM: In the original version of this appeal we asked for the public's help in locating the woman's family. We have now located her next of kin.

We are working closely with our colleagues at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to fully understand what happened, and the investigation is ongoing. Officers will remain on scene while enquiries continue.

While on patrols today in town, we came across the "End Of Summer" event at the Boston Centenary Methodist Church on Red Lion Street, Boston. It was great to meet little ones, some only wanting a sticker and some wanting to join police when they are older. Hope you all had a great time with face painting or on the bouncy castles. lovely meeting you all.
