Catriona and 10th Scunthorpe Scouts have been nominated as part of my Volunteers' Week Celebration!
Catriona has dedicated more than 25 years to Scouting, and her contribution to young people and the community is nothing short of extraordinary. One of the very first Girl Scouts in Humberside, Catriona has grown through every stage of the movement - from Scout, to Explorer, to Young Leader, and into a committed adult volunteer whose leadership continues to shape the lives of countless young people.
Her Scouting journey is marked by exceptional achievement. In 2005, Catriona earned the prestigious Queen’s Scout Award, the highest youth award in Scouting. She went on to represent North Lincolnshire at Windsor, taking part in the national celebration and proudly delivering a reading during the service
As Group Scout Lead Volunteer for the 10th Scunthorpe Scout Group, Catriona has been the backbone of the group for many years. Her leadership is practical, consistent, and deeply rooted in care for both volunteers and young people.
Catriona said "It’s lovely to be appreciated but we really don’t expect it as we do what we do because we enjoy it and get joy from the children experiencing scouting in a safe and nurturing environment. We love watching them grow and becoming young adults with the best life skills we can give them. What could be better than that?"
