TRAIN TRAVEL NEXT WEEK: I’ve just come off a call with the Department of Transport, the Police, rail providers and those on the ground at the site of the accident.

There will be sustained train disruption for the next week.

The train carriages need lifting off the line by crane which will require work on overhead lines, alongside the replacing of 600+ metres of train track damaged in the accident.

Bedford to Luton services will remain closed the rest of the week, and the coming weekend was already planned to be closed. There will be no services south of Bedford i.e Bedford to London St Pancras or Bedford and Luton. All trains that usually start of terminate at St Pancras will terminate at Bedford. Please see below what will be running.

Tickets will be accepted on alternative routes, but anyone who can avoid travelling - especially given the heat - is asked to please avoid train travel and work from home if possible.

Anyone whose loved ones were involved in the incident on Friday night, for example seeking to get personal belongings, or who need support from the British Red Cross, can call the dedicated line on: 03332125934

Thank you again to our emergency and Trainline services. My thoughts remain with all those still in hospital and the family of the train driver who lost his life.

WHAT WILL OPERATE?

EMR Intercity and Connect services will operate one train per hour in each direction:

One train per hour between Sheffield and Bedford, calling at Chesterfield, Derby, Long Eaton, East Midlands Parkway, Loughborough, Leicester, Market Harborough, Kettering and Bedford.

One train per hour between Nottingham and Bedford, calling at Beeston, East Midlands Parkway, Loughborough, Leicester, Market Harborough, Kettering, Wellingborough and Bedford.

One train per hour between Corby and Kettering.

Rail Replacement buses will be provided in each direction as follows:

One direct bus per hour between Kettering and Luton (departing on the hour).

One bus per hour between Kettering and Luton Airport Parkway, calling at Wellingborough, Bedford and Luton (departing on the hour).

EMR Luton Airport Express services will not run whilst the recovery operation continues.

Passengers travelling between Luton Airport Parkway and London St Pancras in either direction may use their ticket at no extra cost on Thameslink services.

🚨 Petition deadline changed!

The petition to save the Rutland Sea Dragon now closes at midday tomorrow – just 24 hours away.

If you believe, like the Friends of Rutland County Museum and Oakham castle and me, that the Rutland Sea dragon should come home to where it was discovered, please sign our petition urging the Council to reverse its decision.

This 180-million-year-old ichthyosaur is one of Britain's most important fossil discoveries, and we need your voice to help protect it.

Reform UK-led Lincolnshire council says the savings affect “duplicated” services, amid criticism.
