Local Businesses are really well placed to support local food initiatives.
Recently, WISE (Waste Investigations Support & Engagement) donated 200 essential items to Bournemouth Foodbank, contributing a total of 54.8kg in support of their vital work across BCP. Team Manager, Mo, was pleased to assist with the delivery and accept a certificate of thanks on behalf of the team.

Bournemouth Foodbank is working towards a fairer, hunger-free society where everyone has sufficient income to afford food and access a strong network of community support. Their mission goes beyond emergency provision β€” they are focused on addressing the root causes of poverty, challenging injustice, and bringing communities across BCP together through compassionate, practical action. By collaborating with local partners, they strive to empower individuals and families while building a more equitable and resilient community where no one is left behind.🍽️🏑

If you are a food growing project or know of any that may want to express interest in this project, please share it around. We know of a few local groups putting something together at the moment. There could be opportunity for partnership working on this.

The BCP Access to Food Partnership is connected to a wider national network of support. Feeding Britain is a great organisation supporting groups with training, sharing good practice and listening to what is happening. In a recent report on what are called Affordable Food Clubs, they feedback on what people across the country are saying and how they are becoming for resilient.

Great example of local partnership working! This recent news coverage has just been shared with me. Funded by the Household Support Fund (BCP Food and Energy Support Fund) last winter, this project included researchers from Bournemouth University, who teamed up with We Are With You and The Friendly Food Club to provide an alcohol abuse rehab food scheme to show how a healthy diet is helping patients to recover.

Researchers at the University of Bournemouth have teamed up with a drugs charity to start an alcohol abuse rehabilitation scheme focussing on healthy food.Th...

URGENT APPEAL!
Good morning, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
Thanks to the amazing support of local businesses, community groups, families and individuals; we were able to make sure that those most in need had good food for Christmas but unfortunately, the need doesn't stop there. As you may have seen on a recent news segment on Meridien News (link in comments), January and February are the months when we really struggle most to get the basic supplies we need for our regular food parcels and right now, we are extremely short of the items below. We really appreciate that budgets are stretched but if you are able to make even a small donation we would be extremely grateful. 🫢🫢🫢🫢
Thank you so much for your continued support in these tough times.

Good little vid put together by BCP Communication team. Good visuals of the scale of food operation happening in the area. Join in and support or volunteer at one of your local venues. Happy New year all. It is at this time of year that we take stock of the previous year and then look ahead to our purpose over coming months.
Last year Access to Food partnership met 4 times in person. 120 different workers from 56 organisations chatted, reviewed, planned and listened.
This month, on the 14th, we meet again as a partnership forum at God First Christchurch. If you work or live in BCP and want to support partnership working, get in touch to attend.

Also in 2025 we completed a 5 year review of the partnership and also made a film, both being released this month!
Our map had almost 1000 hits in December alone and many people directed to find food and support when they need it the most.

We exist to bring people together, to support each other in the BCP communities. We hope you will continue to connect with us in 2026 to do even more!

Merry Christmas Everyone...

Last week we went to visit 10 of the projects doing amazing work in BCP.
1 project had wrapped 950 Christmas presents for low income households, it took them 2 weeks.
1 Project was giving out food for 750 School Holiday vouchers !
4 projects were giving out Christmas Hampers totalling over 1000!

There is a lot of need in BCP but also such a lot of good will! A big shout out to all the thousands of volunteers and workers giving their time over the Christmas Holidays. The need is not just at Christmas, so when the festivities are over and we head into colder months don't forget to support these brilliant community efforts.

A special mention to this project Hope for Food. They really do it all. Feed and cloth the homeless, support families and schools and give both fresh and ambient foods to people, they also give out toiletry and move in packs for those in temporary accommodation. . They are all volunteers (about 150 of them) and work round the year to support residents. See the vid of their amazing project as the busy and caring volunteers prepare 400 Christmas parcels to go out.
