We are delighted the BBC is shining a spotlight next week on unpaid carers through a week of special programmes, stories and discussions across TV, radio and online.

We have worked to help the BBC develop content for its programmes and source case studies. Find out more and share to raise awareness of carers and the need for more support: bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/mediapacks/bbc-caring-matters-week

So Carers Week is nearly here, and there are lots of great community events taking place across BCP/ Dorset this year. A huge amount of work has gone into making them welcoming, accessible, and inclusive for local carers and communities.

If you have not had a chance to look yet, you can see the full calendar of events here:

You care. We care. Let’s celebrate you. Are you looking after someone close to you? You might not call yourself a carer, but if you support a friend or family member with illness, disability, mental health needs, frailty, or substance use, that’s exactly what you are. And this week is for you.

* 👀 AT COMMENTS* Most parents in this country have absolutely no idea this is happening.

While everyone is distracted trying to survive everyday life, major education reforms are quietly moving through consultation stages with a deadline of 18th May.

Changes that could affect schools, classrooms, behaviour policies, staffing pressures, support systems, funding and the overall direction of education in England.

And yet hardly anyone seems to be talking about it outside small corners of the internet.

That alone should concern people.

Because ordinary families should not be the last to know when huge national changes are being discussed.

If you feel the public has not been properly informed, SAY SO.

You do not need to write an essay.
You do not need to understand every page.
You do not need permission to have an opinion.

Even a short email saying:

“I do not believe ordinary families have been properly informed about these proposed education reforms.”

is valid consultation feedback.

Deadline:
18th May

If enough ordinary people stay silent, politicians will assume the public is content.

A lot of people genuinely have no idea this is happening.
