Tricuro is wholly owned by Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole councils and provides short and long term high quality care and support to adults, their carers and families. We have highly trained and skilled staff and offer flexibility, consistency and reliability of service across Dorset, which is focused on meeting the needs of people in our communities.

The centre has level access to all rooms therefore it is easy to get around. There are specialist changing and toilet facilities, including overhead hoists and a multi-sensory area also equipped with an overhead hoist. We have lots of different daily activities which take place at Wallisdown Connect such as:

Sensory story telling
Snoozelen
Massage and relaxation
Swimming
Bowling
Sailing
Intensive interaction
Art, craft and pottery
Cookery and food tasting
Music
Soundbeam
Trips out to the beach, forest, library etc
Say So Drama

Our staff have a good understanding of, and training in, working with people with a learning disability. They have skills and experience to bring out the best in people. They provide a good balance between giving people the support, encouragement and reassurance they need and enabling them to make the most of their skills and abilities. Overall our specialist service:

Supports people with complex needs to be as independent as possible. Has well-trained staff to support people with a learning disability and complex needs in line with best practice. Supports people to access activities in the community. Provides a service that is fun and welcoming to everyone. Offers a stimulating and safe place. Supports people to keep friendships and make new ones.

Products

The service specialises in providing care and support for clients with profound learning disabilities. Activities are tailored to individual needs and abilities and are goal-led to enable clients to achieve their desired outcomes. There are sensory based activities to enable clients of all abilities to participate with their peers. Activities include soundbeam; sensory stories and activities in the sensory room; music therapy; pottery; games and drama classes. Clients are supported to take part in sailing; community walks and shopping and to visit many community based locations such as nature reserves; animal sanctuaries; garden centres and the service’s allotment.

There are several bathrooms with overhead hoists and changing beds. There are also showering facilities. Fully supported bathing and showering services are offered at an agreed charge.
