On VE Day, we pause to remember a moment in history that brought hope to so many. It marks the end of the Second World War in Europe, and a day of relief, gratitude, and reflection for families across the country.

Today, we remember all those who served, those who sacrificed, and those on the home front who kept life going through incredibly difficult times. We also think of the generations who carried the impact of war long after the celebrations ended, and the stories that have been passed down through families here in Bournemouth, Poole, and beyond.

If you are marking VE Day today, you might choose to take a quiet moment, visit a local event, or share a memory of a parent, grandparent, or neighbour who lived through those years. These personal stories matter, and keeping them alive is one way we continue to honour them.

If you feel comfortable, share a memory or a name in the comments. We would be blessed to read them.
