🍂 Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness 🍂

Celebrate the beauty of autumn with a gentle guided walk through Wick Fields, inspired by the sights, sounds and colours of the season. Along the way, we'll look for autumn wildlife and plants while enjoying a wonderful selection of seasonal poetry from writers including John Keats, Dylan Thomas, Charlotte Mew and more.

Bring along your favourite autumn poem to share, or simply enjoy a relaxing morning immersed in nature and literature. Refreshments are included at the end of the walk.

Don’t miss our popular Walk of the Dead this Halloween, taking place on Saturday 31st October, 7pm–9pm.

Prepare for a few surprises as we take a ghostly journey through 12,000 years of human history and meet our Stone Age and Bronze Age ancestors.

What did our ancestors fear? What did they hope for? And what did they make of the mysterious night sky above them? Along the way, we’ll explore ancient beliefs, the changing ways we have buried our dead, and what archaeology can tell us about the people who once lived here.

This year’s Walk of the Dead is a little different. Rather than heading further afield, we’ll be exploring the area in and around the Visitor Centre, bringing the stories of Hengistbury’s past to life in a new way.

Expect history, darkness, a little folklore… and a few surprises along the way. 👻🌙
