Wessex Rescue is a voluntary water rescue unit based in the Wessex area and affiliated to SLSGB

After multiple major flooding throughout the country, a need for more independent flood rescue teams has been identified. When major flood events occur our team may be asked to respond alongside other emergency services to anywhere across the UK and Europe. Second to this the team are also used locally

to assist in any other water based search and rescue efforts

We are a Non-Profit Organisation and will be continually fundraising for the training of team members and for the necessary equipment needed for water rescue. Wessex area is defined as Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Isle of Wight and Hampshire but can extend further and we are deployable to anywhere within the country.

Sad news this afternoon, the missing woman which the team have been searching for has been located. Thoughts are with the friends and family.

UPDATE | We are very sad to update that officers searching for a missing woman in Poole have found a body.

We received a report at 11.06pm on Monday 15 June 2026 raising concern for the welfare of 26-year-old Krystal.

Very sadly, at 2.42pm on Friday 19 June 2026 we received a report that the body of a woman had been found on the beach at Hengistbury Head.

While the body has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be Krystal and her family has been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been notified.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Krystal at this extremely difficult time.

Water team carried out detailed shoreline searches using the Arancia boats. Although we are a declared asset for Flood, we work under the Surf Life Saving GB framework which means we can also operate in the coastal and surf environments.

Drone team carried out lots of search patterns along the coast and covering large areas of open fields.

As it national Volnereer week, we would like introduce you to some of the team, who have served and are still serving with Wessex Rescue. Without your commitment the team wouldn't exist. The training can be both hard and fun, and in all weathers. We don't stop for rain 😅. From the Drone team to the water techs we are all proud to be volunteers.
