This week at preschool the children have been busy junk modelling with various items that we have had donated to us. The children had some fantastic ideas of what to create, finding the relevant resources they required and then using glue and masking tape to create their masterpieces. We have seen cat soft plays, rocket cars and musical instruments created to name a few. The children have also had a great time exploring ice in the light box this week. The children used some wonderful language to describe how the ice felt, “cold” “slippery” and “melty.” The children used paintbrushes and coloured water to melt the ice to free the herbs. Miss Ness donated us some diggers and vehicles this week which the children have enjoyed using in the tuff tray of crushed wheetabix. The children have worked individually and in small groups to transport the wheetabix around the tray. Yesterday afternoon, the children had a fun time running around on the track, running up and down the grassy hill next to the steps and rolling down the hill very fast. As it was a hot afternoon we decided to sit in the shade and cool down with a drink and an ice lolly!!

"That was awesome!!" 🌟

My favourite comment of the morning came from a little boy at St George’s Shining Stars Preschool during our Fun Fair themed Mini Athletics class. He'd had a fantastic time spinning around on his bottom, pretending to be a merry-go-round! 🎠

It's always an absolute pleasure visiting this wonderful pre-school, where every member of staff genuinely cares about each and every child. The team are amazing and always join in our games with so much enthusiasm. When children see their role models having fun and being active, it inspires them to do the same!

We packed plenty of fun into today's session. We built a rollercoaster before racing along it at top speed with huge smiles and our hands in the air 🎢, knocked down coconuts at the coconut shy 🥥, and enjoyed lots of races that got us moving our bodies in all sorts of different ways.

One little girl's delighted cry of "Again!" after a race said it all! 💛

These wonderful children have come on so much since I started weekly classes with them last term. During our warm-up, they were confidently waving at Gogo with both their hands and feet at the same time, and one teacher commented that not all of them could do that when we first started. It's so rewarding to see their coordination, confidence and physical skills developing week by week.

We always have so much fun together, and mornings like this remind me why I love what I do.

Mini Athletics is a fantastic enrichment activity for pre-schools, and we're now taking bookings for September. If you're a nursery or pre-school manager and would like to find out more, we'd love to hear from you! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️✨

After a lovely half term filled with sunshine the
preschool staff had a productive inset day. We
had a little move around in the preschool room
and following our children’s interest we set up
a construction site in the role play area. This
week the children have enjoyed exploring this
area, using a variety of different sized bricks to
build with. The children have worked so well together as a team to make some larger scale builds. They’ve discussed their ideas and listened well to each other to ensure their car had all the right parts. This week we have also had a large train track set up for the children to explore. The children’s trains have been on many different adventures, have stopped at the station to
collect passengers and the children have done
some wonderful sharing of the carriages between themselves. Out in the garden the children have explored shaving foam in the tuff tray. They enjoyed using their hands to make marks in the foam, commenting that the foam felt cold. One child asked to use a brush and then proceeded to draw people in the foam. Some of the children asked for some water in the ball run. They then
worked together, using different sized spoons to transport the water into a bowl, carried it to the top of the ball run and watched the water travel back down.

This week the children were amazed at how quickly the chicks had grown over the weekend. They’ve still enjoyed lots of lovely cuddles but have found it fascinating that the chicks have been beginning to flap their wings. The children have been exploring the loose parts this week too. The children have used the loose parts to make some wonderful creations, from faces to pizzas! Today we had our first swimming session of the summer term. All of the teachers have felt so incredibly proud of all of the children, although some of them were feeling a little bit nervous they all listened really well during the session and their confidence grew whilst in the water. We hope you all have a wonderful half term break!

It has been another very exciting week at preschool this week, we returned from the weekend to our hatched chicks.  The children have been super stars at holding the chicks very gently, sitting quietly so they don’t scare the chicks and have been fantastic at waiting their turn. The first chick to hatch was born on Miss Jo’s daughter’s birthday so was named Callie but the other two chicks needed a name. The children all have some name suggestions and voted that the other chicks should be called Bluey and Bingo. Whilst the chicks have been out for cuddles the children have noticed and talked about their similarities and difference in size, colour and even their beak colours. This week the children visited the school playground where they had a wonderful climbing the steps on the pirate ship to access the slide, where they slid down in a variety of ways. They also played a few group games of hide and seek, finding some fantastic hiding spaces whilst the seeker counted loudly.  The children have also enjoyed water play this week, using pipettes to transport the water in bowls. They also used tongs to scoop up the mint and water to make potions.
