We're looking for an experienced Medical Staffing Manager (Band 7) to join Berkshire Healthcare and lead our Medical Staffing and Education team.

Based in Reading with hybrid working opportunities, you'll work closely with senior leaders to support the delivery of our medical workforce strategy, providing expert advice across medical staffing and rota management, as well as recruitment and workforce planning.

We're looking for someone with significant medical staffing expertise, experience of medical recruitment, rota management and a track record of delivering high-quality advice and guidance to doctors and managers.

In return, you'll join a Trust that's committed to developing its people and growing its own talent, with access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

We’re celebrating Senior IPC Nurse Specialist Smithamole Anil and her remarkable contribution to patient safety, infection prevention and the NHS over the past 25 years. 💙

"I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in India, where I developed a broad foundation of clinical skills and specialist knowledge. In 2001, I moved to the UK as part of an international nursing recruitment programme and began my NHS career in an acute Trust.

Driven by my interest in microbiology, I later specialised in Infection Prevention and Control, a speciality that brings together patient care, education, quality improvement and strategic leadership.

Today, as a Senior IPC Nurse Specialist at Berkshire Healthcare, I work alongside my team to provide specialist IPC advice and training, develop guidance and resources for staff, and lead infection prevention initiatives across the organisation. My role also involves providing specialist IPC input into procurement and tender processes, refurbishment projects and new healthcare developments, helping to ensure infection prevention principles are considered from the very beginning.

One of the most significant periods of my career was supporting the organisation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside my team, I helped colleagues navigate rapidly changing circumstances while continuing to focus on keeping patients, staff and services safe.

Beyond my local role, I am also a member of the National IPC Shared Decision Council, where I contribute to national guidance and represent the perspectives of community and mental health services.

Looking back over the last 25 years, I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with so many inspiring colleagues and supportive teams.

Berkshire Healthcare is a supportive and diverse organisation, and I have been fortunate to work alongside colleagues who have encouraged continuous learning and development throughout my career."

A few weeks ago, we joined local partners from ACRE Reading for a coffee morning to talk about alcohol addiction support and the difference the right help can make.

A big thank you to Bernadine Blease, Director of Specialist Services, who joined the session and responded to questions about the complexities of supporting people with dual diagnosis.

We also heard valuable insights from Change Grow Live (CGL), who explained how they support people experiencing challenges with alcohol. It was encouraging to see attendees sharing experiences, asking questions and making connections with local support services.

Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to such an open and supportive conversation.💙
