5 things WE DO NOT DO! π
ββοΈ
I often get parents emailing and asking questions such as, "my child doesn't sit for long" or "my child does not life crafting, will they be ok?"
And my answer is always, I NEVER expect a child to sit still at forest school!
In fact, I don't expect anything from your child.
Yes, I have stories to tell, we do songs around the campfire and we have crafts on offer every week.
But, these are simply OPTIONAL. If you child is deep in their play, you must protect it and never feel like you must force them to do every craft or play in every area or listen to everything I say.
Forest school is all about the child and meeting thwem where they are at, not controlling them in a space that is made for them to have control.
Yes!!
If you are regular at Muddings, you will know I often make up stories as I go or even cook new snacks we have never tried on the fire too! π₯
And, I am always surrounded by a crowd of watchful eyes, I have embraced this and just acvept that you and your children are there for the journey with me! π
WE LOVE THE RAIN!! π§
Dress appropriately, yes YOU! ADULTS!!
Yourself and your child should be dressed for the weather and then nothing will stop you embracing nature and having a calm morning in the fresh air. (The negative ions released by rain are also amazing for your mental health) π
CHILD LED!!
Yes, I have ideas and tricks up my sleeve, but it is the best when children come and tip those ideas upside down and shake them around- thats what its all about! πβ¨οΈ
Never!!
Just enjoy it, we can wash things later π₯°πΏ
