Our monthly Relaxed Session is taking place from 15.00-17.00 this Sunday (25 October), offering a calmer, more comfortable way to experience the museum, ideal for visitors who prefer to explore without the usual levels of noise and activity.

Expect reduced sound levels, more consistent lighting, clearly marked quiet areas, a sensory chill out space in Wonderlab studio and staff on hand to support your visit. Sensory backpacks and ear defenders will also be available to borrow.

You can enjoy the galleries at your own pace or take a break in one of our quiet spaces whenever you need to.

The National Science and Media Museum presents... Blood and Brushstrokes - a Hammer Horror Story 🩸

As the collaboration between Pictureville Cinema and Hammer Films continues, we're delving deeper into the Roy Ashton and Phil Leakey collection, telling the story of special effects makeup for some of the most iconic monsters in horror history.

If you want to discover more, you can head to our Sound and Vision galleries from 24 October - 1 November for our How to Make a Monster talk to discover the processes of special effects make up in the movie industry and get hands-on.

Shaun the Sheep has taken over with Mossy Bottom Laboratory, bringing a whole week of spooky science, stop motion animation, movie monsters and Halloween fun.

The Count took over Pictureville last night for a special gala screening of Dracula (1958), celebrating its stunning new 4K restoration and the return of lost scenes once deemed too gruesome to screen.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for a suitably spooky evening!

Celebrate Black History Month with us this Saturday 🎷

Bradford’s Afro Fusion Ensemble will fill the museum foyer with live music inspired by the African diaspora. Led by local saxophonist Dayo Sax, this ensemble brings together vibrant sounds and a shared love of music.

There’ll also be a live game show and hands-on activities for all ages.
