Huge congratulations to our friends at the National Literacy Trust in Bradford!

We are thrilled to share that Imran Hafeez, Manager of the National Literacy Trust in Bradford, has been recognised with an MBE for his services to education, the community and literacy in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2026. 🎊

Imran has been a central figure in the literacy landscape of Bradford for over a decade. A father, a poet and a performer, Imran has made it his personal mission to break down barriers to opportunity and inspire children to engage with literacy, no matter their background.

One of Imran’s greatest achievements is taking books and stories directly to where families are in the Bradford Stories Bus. Once an American school bus, it has been transformed into an inspiring space for storytelling, reading and writing.

He also developed the National Literacy Trust’s volunteer Literacy Champions programme, which has since been rolled out across the country.

Huge congratulations Imran, thank you for all you do in Bradford!

Home Ed group is back at Shipley Library this Wednesday 24th June, 2-3pm.

This month we're having a sporting stories themed session ⚽🏉🏀🏅📚 featuring a mini book-ish sports day!*

Expect 'Library Games' including book balancing (far more stressful than it sounds), story-based sprinting (veeery slow actual sprinting) and general dramatic movement inspired by book characters who are definitely more athletic than they look.

We'll also be inventing brand new sports, designing mascots and creating stories where librarians somehow become elite athletes.

Free, no need to book, most suitable for children up to 12 but all welcome!

*sorry, no sack races or long jumps here and definitely NO EGGS 😱 think of the books!!!
