Participate projects

Participate projects We offer a wide range of services that support and connect businesses, social ventures, charities and communities.

Our mission is to create the environment in which the great social ideas of individuals
and organisations can grow, flourish and create lasting change; we do this through
coaching, helping people to focus on solutions to their challenges -
Our usual activities include:

Social Venture Support - We support people of all ages to develop ideas, helping new
and existing charities, projects, schools, c

ommunity groups, individuals, and social
enterprises to start and grow. We specifically work with people living in deprived areas or who have other barriers. As part of this we also train coaches from other
organisations in community based enterprise coaching. Business Volunteering - We engage businesses to share resources, skills and time to
help develop and grow community led ideas that deliver social good, increase
opportunity and reducing inequality. Third Sector Assessment, Grant Delivery and Research. We work alongside regional
and national organisations to asses community projects, administer grants and conduct sector research. Youth Ventures - The Venturists is our youth engagement programme that gives young people the opportunity to start viable social action programmes. We specifically work in schools and communities with high levels of deprivation; using a framework that inspires young people to take action on the issues that affect them and their immediate community.

Impact is often talked about, but not always clearly understood. We're offering a free online workshop later this month to provide a practical starting point for thinking about how to measure it, what to measure, and how to communicate it. 💬

This session will break down the key concepts, helping you move from activities and outputs, to outcomes and real-world change; and explore why impact measurement is essential for learning, improvement, and demonstrating value to funders, partners, and communities.

Think this could help you and your organisation? This introductory workshop is designed for charities, social enterprises, and community organisations that want to build a clear understanding of what “impact” means and how to begin measuring it in a simple, meaningful way.

We believe it’s incredibly important to raise the aspirations of young people at the earliest opportunity; to inspire them about the possibilities of positive action for the environment and provide rich, life-changing education experiences that stay with them for life. This is your chance to help us achieve that.

We've recently been working with Yorkshire Water to help deliver support to community organisations in Meanwood, Leeds, as part of their Doing Right by Yorkshire promise. 🚰 🤝

We found organisations that needed support and provided income generation advice to help improve their financial resilience. Yorkshire Water staff took on mentoring roles to support social enterprises in areas such as marketing, business planning and impact monitoring.

Yorkshire Water staff also took part in team volunteering days, to help improve community buildings and spaces for the people of Meanwood to benefit from.

ℹ️ Participate Projects offers a wide range of support for people who are either setting up or running social enterprises in their local communities. Find out more about what we do at www.participateprojects.org.uk

Volunteering can mean so many things, from offering a day to paint your local community centre, to reading with children, or chairing a board of trustees.

Paris Daniel is one of Participate Projects' trustees, volunteering her time to help shape the policy and direction of the organisation.

💬 “I'd say the greatest skill volunteering has given me is strategic thinking", says Paris. "Serving on the board of Participate Projects has helped me see the bigger picture, contribute to key decisions, and work collaboratively with others to support the charity's goals. Through skilled volunteering, I've also learned how to apply my expertise in ways that create real impact”.

While giving is a huge part of volunteering, there's so much you can take from the experience. For Paris, that's been improving her approach to strategic thinking and planning.
